Krista swung her arm causing a jolt of pain skyrocket up my sore wrist. Cringing, I kicked her shin and ignored her complaining. Krista lead us down through the hallway. Reed kept growling at her, his eyes kept fading in and out from a glowing yellowish orange to their regular color. Reed kept pace with me easily, his leg was almost fully healed and it had only been a couple of seconds. Werewolves. She lead us down a couple more hallways. They seemed endless. All the same plain gray tiles and walls going on and on. Some with a couple of doors, some with hundreds of doors. For a while I wondered if she knew where she was going because of the doors. I was counting the different numbers of the doors on the left and right.

"Hey, stop!" said a deep voice.

We all turned, me and Reed in horror and Krista in relief. The second I saw who it was my stomach dropped and burned a hole down to the center of the earth in a second flat. It was Krista's older brother, James. James with his stupid wavy brown hair and big brown eyes that were looking from Krista to Reed who was stepping in front of me-and Krista by default-protectively.

"What's going on here?" James asked.

I refrained from rolling my eyes. James was never the smartest guy in school, or anywhere else for that matter. He was almost held back a grade his senior year.

"James-" Krista started say taking a step forward.

I yanked back on the cuffs as hard as I could, wincing but taking satisfaction in the pain that washed over Krista's face.

"Krista, are you okay?" James asked taking a small step forward.

Reed let out a small almost nonexistent growl. I put a hand on his shoulder to keep him from making it any louder. Hopefully, James would't connect the dots until we got out of here.

"We're fine," Reed said gruffly before starting to turn.

"Are you sure because-"

"We're fine." Reed said cutting him off.

"Krista?" James asked again.

I gave Krista a warning tug on the cuffs ignoring the pain that kept shooting up my arm. We started to walk away, me keeping Krista in front of me, Reed right behind me. Krista seemed to be going along with it, I started to get extremely suspicious when she whirled around, yanked on the cuffs, spun me around with the cuffs, wrapped her arm around my ribs pinning my arm down and wrapped the chain around my neck. My other arm was stuck in an awkward position somewhere near Krista's ear while I was stuck choking and squirming trying to get out of her grasp.

Reed lunged forward but Krista pulled back on the chain, air going to my lungs thinned out. I could barely get a breath in, I started making choking sounds and my head started to ache.

Krista clicked her tongue a couple times, "Stay there, dog."

Reed growled loudly.

"James, get back up." Krista ordered from where she was.

James nodded and quickly ran around a corner.

"Let her go." Reed demanded.

"Not so fast, wolf boy," Krista said teasingly.

She loosened the chain around my neck, only enough to keep me gasping in shallow breaths. I felt so stupid, so useless. That would've been an awesome time for cool ninja powers and an awesome comeback but my mind was blank and my lungs were barely getting enough oxygen.

"Listen to me, dog," Krista said. "I'm gonna lead you out of here, you're gonna run back to your alpha, and tell him that you barely escaped with your life. You're going to tell him that his daughter was taken but you didn't see where they took her."

"Why?" Reed asked.

"Because, you're going to be our spy."

Reed growled again and his eyes flashed yellow, "That's not going to happen."

I felt Krista turn her head so she was looking at the side of my face.

"You know, we've studied you, werewolves. We know your strengths, weaknesses, we know what werewolves prefer to eat for breakfast. But as interesting as all of that is," Krista said taking a dramatic pause, "the most interesting thing is the whole 'mate thing.'"

My heart started to pound in my chest. Adrenaline pumped through my veins and I

"It must be amazing, being bonded to someone like that. Knowing what they're feeling, being able to calm them down, be so close. But that is your biggest weakness. being so close means that seeing them hurt," she pulled on the chains.

She cut off my air supply and I started choking. There was no more air in my lungs. My head felt like it was going to explode. My throat hurt and I was going to die. Reed's eyes were full blown yellow now, his teeth elongated and looked like he was about to attack.

"Hurts you." she finished. "We've studied mates the most. It's cute how you need each other so much. And when one of you dies, both of you might as well die. We've seen the heartbreak that one goes through without the other, you're too pretty to go through that wolfy, so I suggest you stay back."

Krista was scaring me now. She didn't sound like the girl I had known since I can remember. She wasn't the one I had told everything to. The girl who had slept over at my house thousands of times, who stayed up all night with me eating ice cream and watching movies after I found out my first crush had a girlfriend. Now she was evil and manipulative and inhuman. Reed stepped back and retracted his sharp canines.

"You're a monster," I choked out at Krista.

She forced a cruel laugh, "Look at who you're dating Renee, you're the one who's dating the werewolf."

Something dawned on her and she let out a long string of low, maniacal chuckles, "I wonder if that counts as bestiality."

Reed lunged forward, in two steps he was on Krista. His nails were long and sharp. He grabbed Krista's throat and broke the chain that was wrapped around my neck. My knees hit the ground and I coughed weakly grasping at my throat. I heard growls and fighting. I didn't dare look back, I just moved myself up against a wall and tried not to bawl my eyes out while Reed and Krista fought.

"Take us out of here," Reed growled finally.

Krista looked worse than I did. Her lip was bleeding and she had been slammed up against a wall repeatedly in the past couple of minutes.

"Fine," she spat at him.

Reed held her by the throat and helped me up. We were lead down countless hallways and around hundreds of corners. Finally, she lead us through a doorway and out into bright sunlight. I was doing everything I could do to keep the tears from spilling down the side of my face. My throat hurt, my best friend was a socio path, and I almost died. Heavy footsteps sounded not too far behind us. Shouting followed and Krista smiled evily.

"If I were you, I'd run." she said.

Reed grabbed me and started to run. He picked me up and ran straight for the woods surrounding the huge building behind us. We made it to the cover of the trees when the troops started jogging out of the building. Reed set me down, walked behind a tree, and a big wolf stepped out. It was a big grey wolf with streaks of black and some orange on it. The wolf had glowing yellow eyes. I got on its back and held the fur between my fingers. Reed took off and I let the tears fall in steady streams from my eyes to the wolf's soft fur coat.

I'm sooooo sorry, it's been so long, I know. It was the end of the quarter, then it was my birthday, then it was finals week...it was crazy. I'm so sorry I took so long to update. When was the last time I updated? March? Sheesh, it's been way too long either way. Again, so so so sorry. Comment any suggestions, thoughts, corrections, vote, and enjoy!
