"Oh my god, I think I'm dying,"I choked out.

"You're not dying, now come on, only a little bit to go."

"You said that half a mile ago!"I spat at Darren.

"That was barely half a mile ago, that was more like ten feet ago,"Blake said annoyed.

I wanted to snap at him but I couldn't because I was panting too hard and couldn't get enough oxygen in me to say anything. It was like I was having another panic attack except I wasn't. We were just training. Well, they called it training. I called it torture. They were making me run outside the perimeter of the land surrounding the house.

"Come on, the house is right there. We're almost done. We've only got about twenty more minutes until we have to get ready for school."said Melanie trying to psych me enough to get up off the ground.

I was sitting on the ground leaning against the trunk of a big tree, panting. I couldn't inhale too deeply or else it would burn my lungs. My legs felt like water and I felt extremely tired.

"Come on, get up."Blake grumbled grabbing my arm and yanking me up.

I groaned and stood shakily on my legs. Of course, I was the only one that looked like I'd actually been running. They all looked like they had only just gotten dressed. I look like I had just ran a marathon.

Before I could collapse again Melanie froze and a low growl emanated from her chest. Darren grew rigid as he sniffed the air and snarled. They both turned towards the opposite direction of the house deeper into the trees. It was so far back I almost didn't see it at first. Then, a pair of glowing grayish white eyes appeared. Then another pair, then another, and another. A huge wolf with black fur with a mix of brown and white stepped forward and snarled at us baring its teeth. Then others stepped out behind it with a variety of different colored pelts.

Blake put his arm in front of me and pushed me behind him. I gladly stepped behind him where I was shielded from the growls of the wolves. We were definitely out numbered. I couldn't really understand why they were so on edge about these wolves. I thought that all the wolves there were part of the Blood Moon Pack, the one my dad is Alpha of.

"What's happening?"I whispered.

"Rivals,"Blake sneered.

"Rivals?"I asked.

That was the last thing that came out of my mouth before one of the other wolves jumped at Melanie. He jumped on top of her and swiped at her. She yelped out. A big white wolf with black rings around his head tackled the wolf on top of Melanie. She stood up and bent down on all fours. By then I was cowering behind Blake so I didn't see her shift, but one second she was Melanie and the other a huge wolf, with dark grey fur with spots of reddish fur stood in her place with shreds of her clothes hanging off its body just like the other wolf.

The other wolves that had come out of the trees started fighting them. Blake grabbed me by the waist and pulled me behind a tree. My heart was pounding and I'm pretty sure his were too. He motioned for me to stay put and I nodded. He walked around the tree and I heard the sound of bones cracking. A sickening feeling settled in my stomach. My breathing was still heavy partly out of fear and partly because I'd just been running.

To my right a little bit away from the fighting I heard a twig snap. I froze and held my breath. I heard heavy footsteps to my right. They kept getting closer and closer. Finally, I turned my head to the right and saw the head of a wolf peeking around the tree trunk. It's head was up to my ribs on all fours. It was terrifying to be standing next to an animal that big.

I slowly started to back away. The wolf growled at me, it's eyes glowed. They were almost white. It was like white paper covered in pencil smears and one long black pupil in the middle. The wolf took a step closer to me and I took a step back. I heard a growl to my right and saw a wolf with shreds of clothes hanging off its body. Blake's clothes.
