"He's in love with the girl that time forgot."
-—–-—
The sudden feeling of being watched itches at my brain, but I remain asleep, refusing to wake up, for the fear of what I might find. What if it's them, what if they found me? Questions continue to rake at the back of my mind, repeating. The feeling doesn't leave, it stays, haunting me. My mind is begging me to open my eyes, but I reluctantly refuse. Fighting the urge, I keep my eyes closed, that is until my eyelids involuntarily open on their own.
They flicker upwards, and a piercing scream escapes my mouth as my arms are quick to pick my body up and move it farther away. Staring down at me is a 6'0 figure, a boy, around my age, gazing at me with confusion and interest while my eyes dilate with horror. My body's trembling violently as I place my hand out in front of me, signaling for him to come no closer.
"Please, d-don't c-come n-near m-m-me!" I stutter. The boy that looks no older than me doesn't come close to me, but continues to focus his midnight blue eyes on me, not taring his intense gaze away. He runs a hand through his umber hair, then crouches down.
I shudder and move farther away, a crate poking me in the pack, making me wince in pain.
"Hey, stop, I'm not gonna hurt you," he opens his mouth, his deep, husk voice ringing in my ears. I start to panic even more. I'm not used to seeing other humans, other people. To me, they're all the same, cruel, brooding, ruthless. They won't stop until they get what they want. They're all the same, and I'm not ready to face them.
"Please, d-don't come n-near me," I repeat, pleading for him to stay still.
"I'm not gonna hurt you, you can trust me on that," he states, inching closer, the wind whipping in his umber locks.
"I-I can't...go...l-leave m-m-me a-alone, I can't t-trust," I pause to take in a deep breath, a single tear escaping my left eye as it slides effortlessly down my cheek and onto my black drawstring sweatshirt. I hug my knees to my chest, my heart rapidly beating.
"Hey, hey, calm down, I'm not going to do anything to you, I promise," his voice now soft.
I promise.
"No. No. No. I-Please, d-don't take me back to them. I c-can't h-handle it please! D-don't take me back!" I scream, my voice hoarse and groggy from sleep.
"Wait what? I'm not going to take you anywhere," his face is etched with confusion as I stare at him, terrified, "Who's them?" He adds, as I just shrink back in the corner further, my arms shaking and my eyes glassy, blurring my vision.
"N-nothing you need to b-be concerned a-about," I stand up shakily, clinging to the two joining walls. I take a step forward, farther away from his crouching figure and to the other side. My legs shake, and give out when I hit the middle of the car, causing me to topple to the ground with a loud thud, the old beams creak as I do.
