Cole's POV

He's in there. The one that hurt Adeline and her mother. He's in there, and he didn't even have to do anything to make Adeline cry. Seeing her cry just make my anger grow. Sometimes, I'm able to control it, but other times I can't...like right now.

The only thing that will make me satisfied in my fist in his face. He practically ruined Adeline's life, even though I don't know the full story, I just know that if he would've stayed, Adeline wouldn't have scars and gashes. I know if he would've stayed, she could of been safe, but he didn't, he left.

I charge into the store, searching for the hickory brown haired man that set Adeline on edge. I hear Adeline scream my name from behind me, but I block her out. I scan the store, searching for the particular someone and my eyes narrow into slits as I glare at him.

I thrust my feet down and stagger toward him. People around stop what there doing and watch me, their eyes boring holes in my back, but I don't care, I have one target, and that's this guys face. I draw back my hand, I'm now right beside him and he hasn't noticed me yet, I swear he's like the most oblivious person I've ever seen.

I hand comes down and lands on the side of his face, causing his head to whip to the side and his groceries to fly everywhere. When I'm done with him, he'll most likely have a black eye, but if he leaves without one...consider him lucky.

"Woah! What the he-" I cut him off my pushing him and then punching him again. I hear loud gasps and a familiar scream of my name.

"Cole! Stop!" Adeline screams, coming up to me and taking a harsh hold of my arm before I could punch this guy again. I watch as he wipes at his jaw where blood is starting to come out.

"Yeah, listen you your girlfriend buddy!" He spat.

"My girlfriend that happens to be your daughter!" I shout at him, and his face turns pale.

"That's not possible," he mutters under his breath. Then Adeline comes to reveal herself, coming out from her hiding spot from behind me.

His face grows even more pale to the point where he looks like a ghost, his eyes dilate when he sees her.

"Adeline..."

Adeline hold up her hand for him to stop talking, and he does.

"Why? Why did you leave! You should have stayed!" She shouts, though it sounds more like a cry. Her father remains silent, not opening his mouth to say a word.

"You could have saved me the years of torture! The years of torment! After mom died in that car crash! You could have took me in! If you didn't leave!" I take in her words that seem to have an impact on her father, for his eyes are looking glassy and sorrowful.

"When the car crash happened, these people took me, they took me and refused to let me go! They kidnapped me to be their slave, their punchbag, and for what? I did nothing to deserve that! Why did you leave?! Why?!" Adeline steps closer to her father, demanding an answer though she already knows it.

"I-I'm sorry Adeline, I-I'm s-" she slaps him across the face, something that I bet she's been dying to do. He shuts his mouth as soon as her hand comes in contact with his cheek that's now bright red. He clenches his jaw, and unclenches it, his head hung low as he stares at the ground.

"Save your apologies, you should be saying them to mom," she spat.

"Adeline-"

"No, you had your one change to explain, but you blew it by staying silent, just like mom when you left!"

"Please-"

"NO! You said so yourself that I was a mistake, and you left because you said that you were a horrible father, was that the real reason, or were you lying?"

"Adeline!" He pleads, but she doesn't listen.

"At this point, I don't even care, do what you want. But I'm going to say the same thing you said to mom before you left, I never want to see you again."

He stays silent.

"Ever," she turns around on her heel and walks straight towards the exit, but I stay put, staring at her father with such hate.

He lifts his head, sorrow in his eyes, but I only give him a death glare before turning to leave and catch up with Adeline.

Today didn't go how I expected. At all.
