"He's in love with the girl that time forgot."

"So, I was thinking...remember when I asked you where you wanted to go the most, and you said Cambridge...would you like to go there?" Cole questions, and I immediately stop.

"Yes!" I shout, unable to keep in my excitement of seeing my home again, Cole just chuckles at my sudden outburst.

"Okay, when do you want to go?"

"Tomorrow," I state, taking another bite from my breakfast that Cole had prepared before I woke up screaming.

"Sounds good, we just need to pack the things we bought, then we'll be good to go."

A smile takes over my lips as I gaze at Cole who's leaning against the countertop in the kitchen while I sit at the breakfast nook ledge. Something catches my mind suddenly, and it's a big piece of going back to Cambridge.

"Cole, how will we actually get there?" I ask.

"A  cargo train," he states, his midnight blue eyes still on me.

"How will we know that it's going to Cambridge?" I question, confused at his offer.

"The cargo train route goes from Mexico, to Massachusetts, then back to Texas, where we came from," he says, running a hand through his umber hair.

"Wait, how do you know all of this?"

"Because...I've done it before," he mutters under his breath, but it was still loud enough for me to pick up. The small smile that was spread across his lips is now gone as he stares at the floor, his posture slanted now.  I stay silent, I know he's thinking of something, something that always seems to make him change moods all of a sudden. I remember, the first day I met him, I asked him why he was on the train with me, and he had the same reaction, all happiness gone from his features as he suddenly acted distant. I remember all of it, as if it were yesterday.

"Cole, are you alright?" Concern is laced with my voice as I glance at him.

"Yeah, I'm fine," the room falls silent. He clears his throat then brakes the silence, "Let's get packing, if we get moving, we might be able to catch it before it leaves," he hops down off the counter and walks past me, without giving me a second glance. Once again, he's being distant...I just wonder why.

What is bothering him? What has the power over him to make him like this? What happened hat makes him like this?

I turn back around and avert my gaze downward onto my - almost empty - food plate that is right in front of me. My appetite suddenly gone, I stand and dump the extra food that I didn't eat into the compost bin under the cabinets and place my plate in the sink, rinsing it off.

I stride to the bedroom, opening the door and grabbing my backpack from behind the door. I start packing, just as I hear the shower being turned on. The water spraying out of the shower head echoes through the silent room.

I resume packing, folding and placing Cole's and I's clothes we bought one day out on the market. Luckily, we only bought two outfits each, so there was still enough room in the backpack for other crucial items, like food and water.

Once the bag is completely packed, I take it out and set it on the counter of the kitchen. Opening the mini fridge, I take out food items one by one and place them into a dirty clothes bag I found in one of the drawers in the dresser in the bedroom. I carefully place the tangerines, grapes, and apples in the bag, then stride over and open up a cabinet and grab the box of energy bars we bought one day when we were out touring.

Placing the food bag inside my backpack, I pad over to the living room, placing it and it's heavy contents on the couch that Cole has been sleeping on.

I casually walk over to the French doors, and pull them open. My eyes flicker all around, scrutinizing each building and each feature of this beautiful city I will probably only see once in my life. I inhale and exhale the fresh, crisp air, enjoying the slight headwind that ruffles my Burnett hair.

Memories from the night before flood my mind as I stand here. This is the spot where the unbelievable feeling took over me, drowning me in pleasure. This is the spot that Cole kissed me, under the stars and shinning moonlight.

I'm jarred from my thoughts when a hand comes to rest on my waist. I involuntarily jump and turn around, but I relax when I see a smiling Cole.

"Ready to go?" He asks, readjusting the backpack strap on his shoulder.

I nod in response, "I can take that for you, if you want," I offer, suggesting toward the backpack slung across his shoulder.

"It's alright I got it, and besides, what gentleman would make their pretty lady do the heavy lifting?" I feel my cheeks heat up and I look away from him, as I hear him slightly laugh from under his breath.

"I'm gonna miss this place," I suddenly say, changing the subject.

"Me too, but we can always come back if you'd like," Cole implies, hi gaze trained on me.

"Really?"

He nods, "yes, whatever you want, I will do," his smile grows wider, reaching his beautiful eyes.

"Thank you," I wrap my arms around his neck, while I'm on my tippy toes. I feel his hands wrap around my abdomen, pulling me closer. A sweet aroma fills my nose as I breathe in his scent.

He pulls away from me, his smile never flattering, "lets get going, before the train leaves and we have to wait until tomorrows delivery."

He takes my hand, leading me to the door. Before we step out of the room, I gaze at it one more time, the beauty still remaining.

We stride down the stairs, each step bringing us closer to the train.

Closer to Cambridge.

Closer to my past.
