An Old 'Friend'

Demi's POV

It's been a few weeks since I adopted Elizabeth. Today we were going shopping to buy her new clothes. While we walking I bumpt in to someon. I said"Sorry" The guy said"Don't worry about it" and helped me with my bags. I said"Thanks...Joe?!"He said"Demi?... i didn't recognize you... you've changed" I smiled and said"You too... how long has it been?"

Joe laughed"Like 3 years... we really need to catch up." I said"Me and Elizabeth were going to lunch... you wanna come with us?" He said"Sure" He kneeled down and said"And who is this little princess?Your niece?" Elizabeth giggled and shook his hand. I said as he got up"She's my daughter... I adopted her about 5 weeks ago" Joe smilled and said"That's great".

We left in my car and went to Pizza Hut. After we ate I invited Joe home so we could hang out. We got there and I put Elizabeth down for her nap. She was exhausted from all the shopping. I went down and sat on the couch in the living room next to Joe. He said"So.. how are you?" I said"I'm good... how bout you?" He said"Good... Demi.. listen... I'm so sorry about everything. I'm sorry for breaking your heart, and sorry for not being there when you needed me most. I know everything must have been crazy after rehab... and I'm really sorry... I am such an ass."

I laughed"Joe... don't worry... I forgave you a long time ago and... you are not an ass. Even though I did need you... but you're not an ass." He smiled at me... the way he used to... when we we're a couple of love birds. He didn't stop staring at me and it just made me blush. I smiled"Why are you looking at me like that?" He smirked"Nothing... you just look so different, so beautiful" I playfully hit his arm saying"Stop it" while smilling.

My phone rang and I pick it up, after I talked a minute with my manager I hung up. I said"Shit" He worried and asked"What's wrong?" I said"I have to call Selena to see if she could babysit Elizabeth while I go quick to meet my publisher, to make sure everything is ready" He replied"I can take care of her while you go out" I looked at him, with my eyes sparkling"You'd do that?" He smiled"Of course... I've taken care of my little brother Frankie. It's easy" I laughed and said"Thank you so much" After Elizabeth woke up I explained everything to her and Joe. After making sure they were ok I then left.

Joe's POV

Wow, I thought. This is what I've missed. I missed her. And she is even more beautiful since the last time I saw her. I agreed to watch Elizabeth while she was out. It took me a while for Eli to trust me. But I think she actually likes me. She is so adorable. While I was playing hide and seek with her she even gave me a nickname. She calls me Joey. Demi got home sooner then I expected. I was still playing hide and seek.

Demi's POV

When I got home I found Joe. He still didn't notice I got home. So I started to spy on him for a while. He said"Elizabeth.. where are you?" My heart dropped. I got terrified and yelled"YOU LOST MY DAUGHTER?!" He said"No, we're playing hide and seek" I relaxed and said"Oh... sorry I yelled at you... I just got scared." He said"You'd think I'd lose your daughter? Don't you trust me?" I said"Of course I do... I just paniced... I'm really sorry" Joe sighed and said"It's fine... don't worry".

Out of nowhere Elizabeth came running at Joe and hugged his leg saying"I found you Joey!" I laughed"Joey?" I couldn't help but laugh. He turned around while holding Elizabeth, he smiled and said"Can you believe she gave me a new nickname?" I gigglied and said"Yep... So 'Joey'... Why don't you wait here while I take Elizabeth upstairs, It's time for bed" Before I carried her she said"Bye, Bye Joey" and gave him a hug.

A few minutes later I walked down the stairs into the living room and sat on the couch. I gigglied"Thank you for watching Elizabeth for me... Joey." He chuckled and said"It was alot of fun" I nodded"Yeah... she told me she wants to play with you again sometime" He smiled"Really? I'd love to... she is really sweet." I smiled at him staring at his eyes.

It was silent for a while. He finally broke the silence by saying"Demi... would you like to go to 'Starbucks' tomorrow? You can bring Elizabeth" I smiled a little letting a sign of relief knowing that if I brought Elizabeth it wouldn't be a date. ai finally awnsered"I'd love to... " He laughed and suggested that he should go. I really didn't wanted him to leave. I felt butterflies in my stomach when he hugged me goodbye. I think I am falling for him... again. I couldn't wait for tomorrow.
