#31 pt. 2

Trence's POV

"Taileen's going away!!"

I froze. Again.

I quickly ran to Rin and held both of her shoulders. "Where?"

"I can't--"

"Please..please tell me where!"

She looked at me sadly. "I really can't tell that to you."

"When?"

"Trence--"

"Just tell this to me, please."

She started tearing up. "T-Tomorrow...she's leaving unannounced. I couldn't stop her. I tried to talk her out of it.."

flashback

Rin's POV

"I'm leaving..Rin,"

I stared at her, shocked.

She started crying, gradually getting harder.

"When--When did you plan to leave?"

"It was way before. Before the school festival..before the test week...," she cried.

That was when it was still her Dad tormenting her!

"Rin--"

"Quit the drama, Taileen. There's still class, right?"

Taileen's eyes suddenly bore no emotion. "Yes."

Her mom looked at me with a faint smile formed on her lips. "I hope you wouldn't spill the news to anyone, hm?"

I was about to say no but I saw Taileen's pleading look. I nodded, completely against my will.

When she and her mom turned around, she looked at me and mouthed,

I'm very sorry, Rin.

And smiled. It was the saddest smile I've ever seen my whole life, and I returned it with tears.

Trence's POV

I hugged her.

"Trence, I'm sorry for not telling you right away. I couldn't--"

"It's okay."

I held both of her shoulders and made her look at me. "I'll stop them. You hear me? I will, and there's no stopping me. Okay?"

She smiled and nodded. "I hope. I'll cling to that dedicated look of yours."
