I leisurely strolled into class, not caring if I was on time or not.
"Miss clifford, late again I see.
Oh, And where is your brother?" Mr Turner asked.
"Michael's also running a little late today" I explained with a fake, persuasive smile.
I looked around the class room for my usual seat in the back corner and saw it was occupied by a boy I'd never seen before. If it'd been anyone else sitting there I would have made them to get out of my seat, but something sparked inside me, something about this boy intrigued me, probably the fact that he was extremely attractive.
I took a seat next to him and his eyes were fixated on me, watching my every move.
"Hey...I'm Arabella" I told him, fluttering my eyelashes slightly.
He turned to look at me, his plump, pink lips curving into a forced a smile.
"Uh, Hi. I'm Calum" he said nervously before tuning back to look at Mr. turner.
His white button down shirt clung to his upper arms, showing the definition of his muscles, and his very conservative, black trousers, matched his black shoes and black rimmed glasses. In all honesty, he seemed like a complete nerd, He was very interested in whatever crap Mr.Turner was saying. But despite my best efforts to find some kind of fatal flaw, I couldn't. He was reaaaallly attractive, and I swear his jawline could cut glass.
"I haven't seen you here before, are you new?" I asked, curiosity beaming through my voice.
"I moved here about a week ago, I used to live in Perth." He explained bluntly.
"Why did you move?" I asked.
"My dad got promoted and the job was here in Sydney." He told me.
"Oh right... So, do you like it here?" I asked awkwardly.
"Um, yes, I suppose. It's been fine so far" he said, flashing me a grin before looking back at his work.
I looked back at my teacher and attempted to look like I was interested in what he was saying, but I couldn't stop thinking about the hot nerd sitting to my left.

The bell rang signalling that 1st period was over. I scurried out of the class room into the halls. I walked over to my locker and spotted my brother leaning on the locker next to mine.
"Look who finally showed up!" I said to him, laughing.
"Hey sis, how was 1st period?" Michael mocked.
"Oh it was a joy as always, history with Mr.Turner really is my favourite lesson" I said sarcastically.
I caught a glimpse of Calum over Michaels shoulder. I watched him intently as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and put some books in his locker, I found myself staring at him and I couldn't help it.
"What are you staring at, A?" Michael asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, um, nothing." I lied.
He turned around to see who I was looking at. "Who's he?" He said, grimace evident in his voice.
"His names Calum, he's uh, just a new guy in our history class" I explained.
"You like him?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't really know him. I've spoken to him once." I said bluntly.
"So why d'you keep looking at him?" He questioned.
"He's new, I'm just curious. God Mike, why d'you always jump to conclusions?" I asked, annoyedly.
"I was only asking! It's just, you don't usually associate with people like that" he said matter-of-fact-ly.
"What do you mean 'people like that'?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
"Well he's kind of a nerd Bella." Michael said, chuckling lightly. I cringed at the nickname he gave me.
"Don't call me Bella, you know I hate that nickname." I said sternly.
"Ok, ok. I'm going for a smoke, you coming?" He asked.
"I'll meet you outside in a bit, I have something to do first" I told him. He nodded and walked outside.
I strolled over to Calum who was leaning against his locker with his head buried in a book.
"Hey" I said. He looked up at me and gave a weak smile.
"Oh, um, Hi Arabella" he said nervously.
Hearing him say my name gave me butterflies, I felt like a 12 year old girl that was talking to her crush for the first time.
"What lesson do you have next?" I asked.
"Uh.. Mathematics i-in room G20" he stuttered nervously.
"With Mrs.Young? That's my next lesson too" I explained, grinning.
He nodded in reply.
"So Calum, I was wondering if you wanna sit with me and some of my friends at lunch, after 2nd period? I figured since you're new here you might want to meet some people?" I asked hopefully.
"Uh, yeah, that'd be great. Thank you." He said smiling before returning to his book.
"Ok. See you in Math class" I said grinning.
I walked outside to meet Michael.
He was leaning against the wall, looking at his phone whilst taking a drag of his cigarette. I stood next to him, leaning against the wall too. I took a cigarette out of my pocket and lit it, bringing it to my lips and taking a long drag. I exhaled slowly, sighing as I did so. Looking around as the courtyard filled with teenagers leaving there lessons.
"So what was this thing you had to do that was so important then?" Michael asked, looking up from his phone briefly.
"I just had to talk to someone. It was Nothing important." I told him.
I took another drag from my cigarette. Taking in the taste of tobacco and the rush of nicotine I so greatly craved.
