Chapter 3: The Proposition

Cedric's POV

"I have a proposition to you, Kuya Cedric." Halos wala na akong marinig na sinabi ni Portia. For the first in my life, I was rejected!

She said she'll only marry the man who loves her unconditionally. Naramdaman siguro ng sixth sense niya na hindi mo siya mahal. This is your karma, sabi ng rational self ko.

This is bad. Nawawala na ba ang natural na karisma ko sa mga babae? Tiningnan ko ang sarili ko sa salamin at kinumpara ang itsura ko sa lalakeng iyon. Unbelievable! Bulag ba ang babaeng to?

Love is blind, singit ng rational self ko.

No, it isn't! It sees more but it doesn't mind. Debate ng wild side ko.

"....somebody new..."

Ano raw?

"I beg your pardon?" putol ko sa kung anumang sinasabi ni Portia.

She gave a lovely sigh. "I said, I'll help you find somebody new.

Oh no. I don't want anybody else but you!

"I don't think that's a good idea."

Umupo siya sa sofa. Then, she crossed those plump legs. Mouthwatering. "Marami akong kakilalang babae na pwede mong magustuhan. They're not like those girls you've dated before."

I heard her murmur. "Malalandi kasi ang mga pinipili mo." Napangiti lang ako sa sinabi niya.

"Anyway, I'll help you find somebody new. In return, you have to turn me into a desirable woman."

She doesn't have any idea how desirable she is. "Akala ko ba in love sayo ang tipaklong na iyan?" She gave me a groan.

"Hindi naman ibig sabihin na nagmamahalan kami ay makokontento na ako sa pagiging ganito," minwestra niya ang kabuuan niya.

"Anong ganyan?"

"Tsararat."

"Sorry, I don't speak monkey. Chicharap? Masarap? Mukhang masarap ka naman ah."

" Tsararat! Chaka! Pangit! Ugly!"

"No you're not! Saan mo ba nakukuha iyang mga nasa isipan mo ha?" Napakamot ako sa ulo ko. "If you feel that insecure, then he's not taking good care of you. If you choose me, you'll never feel that way again!"

Hindi ako nakapaniwalang naging sobrang insecure ang dating palaban kong prinsesa. What the bloody hell happened to her?

"Kuya Cedie naman eh! Ilang beses ko bang dapat sabihin sayo na kapatid lang talaga ang tingin ko sayo. Nagmamahalan kami ni Wendell. Of course, he's taking good care of me! Hindi ko lang maiwasang ma-insecure paminsan-minsan. Sa dinami-rami ba namang malalandi dito sa mundo, alangan namang pabayaan ko lang siya sa mga temptations. I want to be someone irreplaceable for him. Na hindi niya na kailangan pang maghangad ng higit pa sa akin because I am more than enough."

She lowered her head and I can see a blush creep over her cheeks. I lift her chin and make her look at me."Why won't you give me a chance, baby doll? If you choose me, You will be my only temptation. Just say, yes."

"If you insist on marrying me, I'll hate you forever. Do you understand?" naiiyak na sabi ni Portia. Tumayo siya at tiningnan ako diretso sa mga mata. "This help is all I have to offer. Take it or leave it."

No, I don't want her to hate me. She's too precious. If only there was a way to convince her. I will be loyal! I will never hurt her feelings. Bakit hindi siya naniniwala?

She look at me with pleading eyes. "Please.."

If this is the way you want to play, then let games begin.

Napapikit na lang ako. This was not according to plan. "Proposition accepted." And with a wry smile, "If this doesn't work out, I'll take you away and make you mine."

She will be mine.
