35: Attempt Seven
"At least tell me why you said it." I begged the next week. He turned to me, one eyebrow raised high.
"Huh?" He asked, daring me to go on as if he hadn't understood. I couldn't back down now.
"Why would you say you had faith? Why would you tell me to find some of my own?" I replied, trying to keep my voice confident. He sighed, standing from his position on the couch. I knew what was coming. After disappearing for a moment, he reappeared with the rope. I didn't resist, just stayed sitting on the couch. If Luke wanted to do something, he would do it, no matter how I fought.
He knelt in front of me and worked a couple knots around my hands, pushing them behind my back. As he did, I spoke. "You know it was my second attempt to get you to tell me that you said you would tie me up again if I brought it up again." He stayed silent. Then he stared at me as I finished. "This is the seventh time I've tried." Luke didn't respond. He just gently slid the gag back into my mouth without breaking eye contact. The way his eyes dug into mine made my breathing stutter.
