July 5th, 7:30 am
"Hey, I appreciate you guys coming to help." Stella said as Matt, Gabby, Otis, and Herrmann walked in.
"So, what's the big emergency?" Herrmann asked, confused as to why they'd all been called to the Severide house.
"I am the only healthy one in this house and I can't do it alone."
"What happened? What's going on?" They asked.
Stella explained everything to them, getting sympathetic looks by the end.
"Alright, Matt and I will definitely help." Gabby said. "Until noon because I promised we'd help Antonio move."
"I can help from noon until 4; I promised Cruz I'd help him with his Zumba class." Otis volunteered.
"And I have to help Cindy run the kids everywhere today, but I can be here at 4 until they all go down for the night." Herrmann promised.
"Thank you!"
And so they began. Gabby and Stella tended to Hannah, Lila, and Nathan as Matt stayed with Ryder and Kelly.
As Matt held Ryder, Kelly woke up and saw him sitting in the chair in his room.
"That's the first time I've ever woken up to a man in my room." Kelly said in his usual smart-ass way before groaning.
"You okay?" Matt asked.
"Nope, not in the least." Kelly said, one arm around his stomach and one over his head.
"What's wrong? Stella said your stomach and possible strep?"
"Yeah. It's funny how you can take care of kids and they just get you sick in return."
A few hours later, Otis switched shifts with Gabby and Matt. He tended to the kids as Stella stayed with Kelly, Lila, and Ryder.
"How do you change a diaper?" Otis asked Hannah as he came to the realization that Nathan needed a diaper change.
"You hold your breath, wipe the nastiness, slap on a clean diaper, and then breath again." Hannah told him as she watched Fixer Upper.
"Are you watching Fixer Upper?"
"Yes, I am. Chip is my spirt animal."
"Okay then."
Finally, Herman showed up to relieve Otis. He took care of the triplets as Stella stayed with Kelly and Hannah.
"Is Herrmann capable of taking care of all 3 babies? Especially when they're all sick?" Hannah asked.
"Of course he is, he raised 5 kids." Stella assured her.
In the nursery, however, Herrmann was struggling as Lila wanted to be held, but Nathan desperately needed a diaper change.
"Work with me, Nate, come on." Herrmann pleaded as the boy wriggled and cried, hating diaper changes.
"Up! Up!" Lila begged at Herrmann's feet, wanting to be picked up.
"In a minute, kid." Herrmann told her as he put a clean diaper on Nathan.
"Good thing Ryder's asleep." Herrmann thought to himself, just before Ryder woke up and started crying.
"Oh for the love of god!" Herrmann groaned quietly.
Stella then walked in and picked up Lila, who instantly stopped crying.
"Need some help?" Stella asked, quieting Ryder down.
"What was your first clue?" Herrmann asked as he finished putting Ryder's pajamas on.
"Kelly and Hannah are knocked out and it's 8:30, which is the babies' bedtime. You're free the second these three are asleep."
"This, I can do." Herrmann said, rocking Nathan and pretty much getting him to sleep instantly.
"Dang, you're good at that. Here, get Ryder to back sleep and then you can go."
And soon, Herrmann was gone and everybody was asleep.
