5:00 pm, Friday, May 24th, Severide house
"Daddy, are you going on a date?" Hannah asked as she sat on Kelly's bed, watching him get ready.
"Yes, I am." Kelly answered, hoping he wouldn't have to tell her who. He just didn't want her to get too attached to the idea of Stella being her 'mommy' when he had a tendency to mess things up in relationships.
"With who?"
Kelly fixed his shirt in the mirror before sitting beside Hannah on his bed. "I'm going on a date with Stella. But I want you to understand something."
"What?"
"I want you to understand that just because we're going on a date, it doesn't mean that she and I will get married. We're just getting to know each other better. You get it?"
"Yeah, I get it." Hannah told him before climbing onto his lap. "I hope you have fun tonight."
"Thank you, sweetie. I hope you have fun with Gabby and Matt tonight. Make sure to drive Matt extra crazy for me, okay?"
Hannah laughed. "Why do you want me to drive him crazy?"
"It's funny."
"You're right." The doorbell rang then, sending the little girl running to the door.
"Daddy, Gabby and Matt are here!" Hannah called just as Kelly got to the door behind her.
"Well don't you look fancy?" Gabby told Kelly as she and Matt entered.
"Thank you, thank you. I just gotta get my wallet, keys, and phone and I'm out." Kelly said as he unplugged his phone from the charger.
"Where're you two crazy kids going?" Matt asked him.
"Catch 35 Chicago. And after, we're taking a walk through Navy Pier." Kelly answered as he searched for his wallet and keys.
"What happened to seeing a movie after?" Gabby asked.
"Changed our minds. To quote Stella, 'Our first date memory probably shouldn't involve pirates.' Where did I leave my wallet and keys?"
Hannah ran and grabbed them from the desk in the office. "Here Dad."
"Thanks kid. What would I do without you?"
"You wouldn't go anywhere or buy anything."
"Yeah, you're right." Kelly chuckled. "Alright, love you sweetheart. Be good tonight."
"Love you too, Dad. Have fun with Stella. Treat her good." Hannah told him.
"Listen to the girl, Kelly." Gabby teased as Kelly walked out.
"I wouldn't dream of doing anything else."
Hannah closed the door and faced Gabby and Matt. "Well, what're we doing tonight?"
"It's quarter after 5. Have you eaten dinner yet?" Gabby asked.
"Nope."
"What do you want for dinner?"
"I wanna make spaghetti!"
"Great! Let's go make spaghetti!" Gabby said, running to the kitchen with her.
"Matt, what're you looking at on your phone?" Hannah asked him as she washed her hands.
"A text." Matt answered.
"What about?" Gabby inquired.
"This guy I know through construction. He said he has a ton of old doors and stressed wood and stuff like that that I can have, but I need to pick it up by tomorrow afternoon."
"Well, you could go get it while we make dinner. It won't take that long, will it?" Gabby asked.
"No, it shouldn't. Alright, I'll go get it and I'll be back soon. Don't burn the house down." Matt teased.
"No promises," Gabby teased. "Love you."
"Love you too."
"That's cute." Hannah told Gabby as they got water to boil.
"What's cute?"
"You and Matt. I hope my daddy gets married and is cute with someone like that."
Gabby smiled. "Me too."
