JiEun sat on the sofa and her mind totally blanked out. The phone had been ringing for a while. Finally, she picked it up.
"JiEun, what's taking you so long?" It was ChanYeol. He did not sound too happy, "Where have you been? I called you but you had it off."
"What's up?" JiEun said in a dry tone.
"Come out and wait for me at the dock. I want to go fishing." ChanYeol demanded. He had a boat and loved to go fishing at evening to enjoy the calm water and sunset. JiEun accompanied him sometimes.
"No." JiEun answered coldly.
ChanYeol was shocked to hear this answer. She never dared to refuse him.
"I don't want to talk." JiEun sounded annoyed.
"What did you say?" ChanYeol raised his voice, "Hey I'm coming to your place and you..."
She hung up on him.
ChanYeol was upset and threw down the phone. He finished his work and headed to JiEun's place. He opened the door and saw her curling on the sofa. She was in a casual t-shirt and track pants, and her make-up was fading out on her face. Her eyes were red and bumpy. Obviously, she was not prepared to greet ChanYeol as usual.
"I told you I'm coming!" ChanYeol was angry, "See how horrible you look! Go and fix it up now! We are going out."
She peeked at him but did not say a word. She had no expression on her face.
"Ok! I don't want to bring you out either. You look like a ghost." ChanYeol grabbed her arm. The desire of man power rose to his head; this woman deserved a punishment, "Let's finish quick and I'll leave you alone!"
"Get lost!" JiEun suddenly screamed.
"What?" ChanYeol thought he heard it wrong, "I said I want you now!"
"I really don't want to do it tonight!" JiEun insisted strongly.
"You don't have the right to say no!" ChanYeol was fuming, "All you can do is follow what I say! Now crawl to the bed!"
JiEun knew she had no option to go against him. She reluctantly went into the bedroom and lay down as a protest. ChanYeol slid off all her clothes and crawled on top of her. She turned her face away and shut her eyes. ChanYeol kissed down her body and mumbled, "Don't give me this attitude. You are here to make me happy, not to show off your dark face."
She buried her face in the pillow and bit her trembling lips, "Hold on to your tears, JiEun." She told herself in her mind.
JiEun's coldness annoyed ChanYeol. He treated her even more roughly. His urging desire was on top of everything at this moment. Gradually, he moaned a deep sigh and rested on her.
Suddenly ChanYeol heard some slight sobs. The body underneath him heaved restlessly.
"Woo..." JiEun finally collapsed and cried.
ChanYeol was surprised. "What's up with you today?" ChanYeol lifted up his head and checked on her, "I didn't hurt you that much, did I?"
Tears flooded down her face, "...Can you please treat me like a human being? You bought me, but still I am a person...not a thing...I have feelings...and dignity too...please give me a bit of respect..."
ChanYeol was shocked, "What's wrong?" He sat up and asked seriously.
JiEun's body trembled and buried her face in her palms.
"Tell me." ChanYeol leaned over with care.
"...Sister Maria...she has been sick and in hospital for a while..." JiEun cried vigorously, "...I received the phone call this morning that she wasn't doing well. I rushed to the hospital, but it was too late...Sister Maria passed away already...I couldn't even say the last word to her..."
