Prom Night
"You need to look beautiful in your last prom, Dennise Michelle!" Mom said making me roll my eyes.
She's busy tying the red ribbon behind my back. I stared at my reflection on the mirror and smiled when I saw my dad standing behind my mom.
Mom and dad became friends. Yes, I am totally okay with that! I finally swallowed down my pride and accepted him as my father.
Oo, ganun lang yun kabilis. See, the thing is, I was just so mad the other day! I was mad at the world for making my life miserable.
But, I realized that, it was me who's making things complicated. Pinapairal ko yung feelings ko. Pinairal ko yung pride ko! Oo, masakit. I was and am still in pain, and I'm gonna heal myself by doing this...
Forgiving and accepting. Hindi ka naman kasi maghi-heal if you don't start it with yourself. Accepting the fact that you're making things worse rather than fixing them.
Anong magagawa ng galit mo sa tao? Wala. Gulo. Sakit lang sa puso. Diba? So yeah! I am all happy on my own.
My mom's happy, my dad's happy. Alexander and Macey's happy! Family na sila. And of course, Christian. Yes, he is also happy!
Lahat masaya, kasi lahat nag patawad at tinanggap ang isa't-isa. And that's more than enough to make feel relieve and contented with my life.
"Who's your date?" Asked Dad after kissing my forehead. "You're perfect, anak!" Sabi pa niya at saka nginitian ako ng malawak.
"Thanks, dad."
One thing I haven't told you about my dad! He's gay. Haha. Yes! He is! Pero hindi yun yung reason why he left us! Same reason pa rin na sinabi niya. He was already gay nung makilala siya ni mommy. And yes, I guess he was man enough to like, panindigan kami nang kahit konting panahon.
Aysh, enough with the dramas! I wanted to enjoy the night with my friends. As high school ends, so the dramas in my life.
The door bell rung making my mom squealed in excitement.
"Are you nervous?"-Dad
"Kinda?"
He grabbed the bat. "Call me when he start touching you!"
I giggled, "dad stop! It's just Christian."
"Yeah. Twin brother of your ex."-Dad
"We're just friends."
"I haven't said anything yet!"-Dad
"Feels like you're thinking something else." I rolled my eyes playfully at him. I hold onto his arm as we walked towards the door. "Make mom happy tonight, noh?"
"Surely do, my dear."-Dad
I laughed. My mom stand in front of me and fixed my hair.
"You're the most beautiful thing I've ever had! So pretty, anak."-Mom
She kissed my cheek. "So, clingy, mom. Stop. It's just prom, not a wedding!"
Nag patiuna na si daddy at saka binuksan ang pintuan. Tumayo siya ng matuwid at saka tinakpan ang view na dapat ay ako ang nakakakita.
They talked in whispers kaya kumunot noo ako at tumingin kay mommy. She shrugged with a smile. Inayos niya ulit ang buhok ko kaya nag pout ako sakanya.
"Stop fixing my hair, mom. It's not that messy."
"I wanted you to look perfect, anak. Kahit sobrang perfect mo na."-Mom
