Check out this review! Also, please check out the author I reviewed!

Title: The Forgotten Kingdom of Orenda - Strong title, not too long, but also very original. I would be intrigued if I saw this in a store.

Genre: Fantasy

Blurb: Good, solid blurb. Also not too wordy. Could use a small dose of editing, but it was relatively great.

Cover: I think the cover needs more...oomph. It's nice, but it doesn't stand out as much as it should for the story. It just didn't seem like the right fit for the novel, but i'm sure you'll find the right one! Just keep looking. Most of my novels don't have super good covers yet either. I'm not talented at cover making :D

CHARACTERS:

Here's some of the characters that I've encountered thus far. I think mostly they're good, but they need to be defined just a little bit more:

Freya: I like her. She's believable, down to earth and really clever. She doesn't act like a damsel in distress, which is really refreshing.

Cam: He's just absolutely adorable. He makes me laugh :)

Tyler: He's also very loveable. Reminds me of Tyler from Vampire Diaries a little bit, but a younger version.

Rydar: He's too cocky for his own good. I don't care for him much. He has way too much ego. Plus, he says 'love' an awful lot, which I know is his thing, but it's a little bit...cringy. He's not as believable as the other characters. So maybe that's why I have a bit of a problem with him. I think he just needs a little more rounding out.

Aunt Laura: A tough love lady. I love her. She's caring, but strong.

PLOT

I thought it was a fairly original plot. Although, it reminds me of a show or something that I have seen, but only vaguely. I can't quite put my finger on what it is.

GRAMMAR / SPELLING / PUNCTUATION

There were a lot more mistakes than I would have liked, it did detract from the story at times. That can be fixed with more editing though. Sometimes the ALL CAPS was a little much with some of the characters yelling, but I understand that it was to make a point that they were yelling. So, I totally get it. If the whole book was ALL CAPS it would have been a very different story :)

OVERALL IMPRESSION

I liked this book a lot, even with the grammar/spelling/punctuation issues. I think the author has talent and the book has lots of potential. I do think everyone should still give this one a read. I don't think you will be disappointed. I can't wait to see what happens next myself!
