"What's that all about?!" He paced back and forth. This is no new he got pissed off, knowing she was ignoring Aditya, she did not even try defending herself or refute, much to his exasperation. Her eyes glued to the floor as she sat on the edge of the bed. "Ishita, are you even listening to me? I'm talking to you!" He pried. She would not glance him, he heaved a sigh, beat. "Whatever!" He let it go as his arms flew in the air, disappointment washing over his countenance for the first time after a long time. "Raman, I'm pregnant." She winced at that. She did not know what to feel but his feet halted, eyes snooped hers those evaded contact. Frozen, he cleared his throat, ruffling his hair as he ran his hand down his chest that hammered.
"You heard me right." Her eyes met him across the room, as he stumbled down on the doorway to the washroom. Head bundled in his arms as he continued staring at the carpet that was the only thing he found less piercing his emotions. He was scared. It brought about memories he wanted to forget. Everything that rushed in was happiness that never lasted long; he does not want a repetition. "It...it's insane that I'm...I'm pregnant when I least want it. I mean, why? Why would I get pregnant?! I got a baby when I already made my mind of not dreaming and it's in the past! Now, this's totally crazy! My son's almost twenty years old and I'm... It's awkward, Raman."
It was his hands that crept around her broke the silence, squeezing her tight, the fear engulfing them so did the delight. "We don't want, do we?" Lips puckered in a quiver when she gazed him expecting a no? She did not know, still she knew. "Have you gone mad, Ishita!" His voice rose as he cupped her face. "What're you saying, jaan!" His forehead pressed against her, tears tumbling down their eyes. "This's beautiful..." Whispering, he pecked her temple. She needs to take things easy. "Unexpected, but beautiful." He kept his hand on her stomach, chuckling against her earlobe as she sobbed vulnerably.
"I don't know if-" It was cut short by his tight embrace. "Stop being pessimistic." He scolded. "I'm worried. This's not right, Raman. We should think about Adi, his comfort. He wouldn't like it. Raman, he knows his parents love each other but that doesn't mean he'll be okay with us having a baby now. How'd I look at him?! I'm ashamed! He's grown; he understands things and this's not right. I don't want to make him uncomfortable, Raman. Let's...let's..."
"Let's what?" He gritted as her shoulders slumped. "I'm pregnant?" She whispered frowning, caressing her tummy. It felt like a dream and she was scared. "We'd tell everyone tomorrow. I'm sure they're going to be happy, Ishita. Just relax. Adi's going to be alright." He assured but that was not enough. "I don't think so. I really don't." She dismissed. "He's not a child and this's not the time for this. This's...making me restless, Raman." Being skeptical about the pregnancy right now was expected, thus he appeared calm, confident that he would be able to handle her, which only increased her frustration. He should not take this silly, take her silly; this is eating her up, slowly.
"Ishita," He grabbed her arms. Only if she stopped wailing, he could have made her comprehend the situation actually she is in. It was he old for a baby now, right? "Look at you! It's been just around ten years you got married. You've a seven year old daughter, and now you're expecting a second one. It's normal. Think it that way. Adi knows it. All your worries should be mine because this's not the age for me! Are you getting me? I'm not trying to say Aditya is not your son. He is yours. But you shouldn't overlook who you are." He narrowed his eyes to see if she understood him. "Adi understands you." He stressed. "But you do not!" She retorted. "I know what you're going through, and I'm trying to relieve you, Ishita." He defended still holding his good temper. "What if you were in his place?" She shot it as if a challenge and the way his face paled was enough an answer.
