Wolf Tech 6: The Pups

Chapter 9

When Logan finally woke it was very slowly since he had been badly hurt. He didn't bother opening his eyes as he started feeling what injuries he had. His neck hurt badly and he knew he had been bitten there. He had a number of other lacerations and bites. On one side, he felt a warm body curled up next to him and on the other he could feel his father holding his hand. Logan knew his mother would be there as well.

When he finally opened his eyes, he was looking at the ceiling and as he had expected, he was in medical, "Well shit, that really sucked. Dad told me about some of his injuries but didn't realize quite what it was like." He looked around the room and sighed when he found he had an IV. Right about then he felt his bladder complain, "This is going to suck."

Zane woke up and stood before settling on the edge of the bed, "Morning Logan, let me help you up and to the bathroom. Know the feeling since I've been there. Oh, congrats on finding your mate. She is an attractive young woman." He helped Logan out of bed and to the bathroom. When he came out, Zane pulled him into a good hug, "Proud of you son. Izzy is going to probably freak out but you have made me proud."

Logan didn't say anything about Rachel being his mate since he was still trying to wrap his mind around the idea. When he came out and Zane gave him a hug he wrapped his arms around his father, "Thanks dad. You taught me well and being an Enforcer is who I am. Love you dad." He held on for several minutes before he finally moved back. He could hear Rachel waking.

He moved over to the bed and sat down. He slowly reached a hand out and touched Rachel's cheek and felt the tingles and warmth, "Morning Rachel, or whatever time it is. How are you doing?" He finally slipped back into bed and pulled her into his arms and simply held her as she started to wake up.

Rachel just snuggled her head into his chest, "Morning or whatever back. It seems that my attention helps you heal. I don't mind." She went silent, and just listened to his heartbeat. She had been reading lots on the ereader the Alphas had given her. What it was about was engrossing. She might have grown up with the Weres being known, but what the typical human knew, and what they were? That was two totally different things. Other than the broad, "We heal better than humans," they hadn't said much. Tala and Tommy had talked over the several days he was out. That Tommy had been born human was funny, as she couldn't tell.

From what she had read about mates, she was his, and wasn't going to push anything other than she wanted to be near him.

Logan sighed, "It seems like we are mates. Sorry for running the other day but I didn't expect to meet my mate for several decades. Dad was in his thirties when he mated with Kat and my mom with Karl. It sort of freaked me out." He gently shifted so he was facing her and wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close. He could smell her and the tingles were starting. He definitely wasn't ready for any action since he was still recovering, "If anyone asks, getting hurt sucks."

Rachel kissed his shoulder before what he said hit, "Mates? I've been reading but not quite sure what that means Logan." Laying there next to him felt so good. Even being in just panties didn't bother her. He felt so good to her. His arms were strong and the warmth of his body was forcing her to relax.

"Mates to a wolf means we are destined to be with each other. What humans call husband and wife though there is more to it than that. We call it soul mates. When we meet our other they are the one for us and nobody else will mean to us what our mates do. My father dated my mother for a number of years. When he met his mate all that was gone. He cares for Izzy but Kat is his mate and she is his. Mom met Karl just after my dad met Kat. He is hers and how they care for each other. They, mom and dad, love each other but they love their mates even more. It is a wolf thing and not a human thing."
