Between Stories and Reality

Chapter 10: The Dredge

I followed Ryan and Sarah into the woods outside the town. We walked until we reach the woods right outside the dredge.

"Now, Sky, if you know so much about me then do you know what this is?" Ryan asked me.

"It's the dredge" I state.

"Correct." He replied.

"And you've never been to Skeleton Creek before?" Sarah asks me.

"uhhhh...no?" I say questionably.

Ryan and Sarah looked at each other and then back at me.

"Weird..." He states

"What has happened recently?" I ask.

I want to know which book I've landed in.

"We are currently sneaking out against our parents to figure out what is happening in this place." Sarah replied.

So before the first book, before the accident.

"What day is it?" I asked.

"26 of August...why?" Ryan asked.

"Ohh no reason..." I said, lost in thought.

That means four days before the accident.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"Well, I have to go home because the parents are going to figure out I didn't come home straight after school. Bye Ryan. Nice to meet you, Sky!" Sarah said before dashing off as quick as she came.

"Bye Sarah! Hey, Sky, where are you staying?" Asked Ryan.

Oh god, I didn't think about that. Where am I staying?!

"I...uhhhh...have no clue. I-I-I was dropped off here and no one told me anything." I said, feeling very relieved to have finally be able to tell the truth.

"Wait, are you Sky Holmes?" He asked suddenly.

"Yes..." I say, surprised.

"That's how you know so much about me!! You are the new kid!! I was suppose to show you around and you are going to stay with me till you go back home!" He said hitting himself I the head.

"Ohh! Right! Yeah!" I say relieved.

"Well, lets go home and tell Dad that I found you." He says turning away from me.

"Right....okay" I says, following him.
