Chapter 2

Adelia’s P.O.V.

“So, you’ve been hanging out with that Michael guy a lot.” Calum tells me after school.

“Yeah. So what?” I ask.

He shrugs, smiling. “Nothing. I just think Baby Lia has a crush.”

I roll my eyes. “Don’t be a dick, Calum. And so what if I do? He’s adorable.”

“I saw him walking down the hall.”

“And?”

“He bumped into someone, dropped all his books, and then tripped.”

I bite my lip to stifle a laugh. “And you didn’t help him?”

He shakes his head. “No. His friend helped him. You’ve been hanging out with him too. What’s his name?”

“Luke.” I tell him.

“Yeah, I think he’s in one of my classes. Never really talks much, though.”

“Really? He won’t shut up when we talk.” I tell him sheepishly. I look around. “Where’s Ashton?” I ask.

Calum shrugs. “I don’t know. He said he’d be here by now…” He looks over my shoulder. “Speak of the devil.”

I turn around and gasp. He’s clutching onto his nose, which is bleeding, badly. “What happened?” I ask.

“You should see the other guy.” Is all he says.

I roll my eyes. “I want a real answer, Ashton. What happened to you?”

“Got in a fight.”

“With who?” Calum asks, eager for details.

“Some random kid.” He says. “Pushed me forward.”

“And you punched him?” I ask. “Just because he pushed you?”

“It wasn’t an accident.” He says.

“Ashton.” I tell him sternly. “What’s mom gonna say?”

He shrugs. “I don’t know.”

“Just be glad she’s working late tonight. Maybe it’ll give us some time to cover all that up.” I tell him, gesturing at his face.

“Hey, look!” Calum says. “There’s your boyfriend.” He smiles smugly. “Aren’t you gonna introduce us?”

“He’s not my boyfriend, and no, because you guys are gonna be dicks and give him a hard time.”

“Can’t say you’re wrong.” Ashton says, flinching as he touches his nose. “Cal, you’re driving.”

Calum nods. “Lia, you coming?”

“Um, I’ll walk home today.”

“Alright.” He says before walking off.

I turn around and start walking towards Michael. “Hi.” I say, smiling.

“Oh, hi.” He says, awkwardly.

“Where’s Luke?” I ask, looking around.

“He’s inside. Forgot something at his locker.” He shifts his weight to the side.

“So, how’s your day been?” I ask.

“Good.” He says.

“Good? That’s all?”
