"I'm homee!" I yelled out as I closed the door behind me.
"In the kitchen!" My mom yelled back. I took my coat of and hung it up and set my bag down.
"Hey guys, it smells amazing, what are you making?" I asked kisisng my mom on the cheek and hugging my sister.
"Chicken Marsala, and Adri baked some garlic bread."
"Sounds great! I'm going to go take a quick shower and then get ready. Jackson's going to br joining us tonight." I said with a smile.
"Great, I'm looking foward to get to know him more." my mom said as she stirred the chicken in the pot.
"I actually have to tell you guys something, about him." I trailed off while they set their complete attention at me.
"Jackson was a married man before. He's divorced now of course but, he does have a daughter. She's about a year old and is the cutest thing I've ever seen." I said smiling wide.
"Is he bringing her tonight?" Adrianna asked. I nodded.
My mom grabbed my hand.
"Well then I can't wait to meet her." She said giving me a smile.
"What's her name?" Adrianna asked excitedly.
"Harriet."
"Aw that's cute." My mom said. I chuckled at their eagerness. They're taking this surprisingly well.
"Okay I'm gonna go shower now." I said and left.
*Dinner along with everyone was ready and the door bell rang*
I finished setting the last plate down before going to answer the door. There stood Jackson with a diaper bag and a wide awake Harriet in his other arm.
"Hey cutie!" I said to Harriet. She smiled and extended her arms for me. I took her into my arms and kissed her cheek. I let Jackson inside and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
I lead them into the kitchen where my mom and sister were waiting.
"Oh my God this is her?" My mom said with a smile.
"She really is the cutest thing. Hi Harriet." My mom said with a smile as she grabbed her little hands. Harriet smiled at her. Harriet was a great baby, she always bonded with everyone even if they were strangers.
"Hey Jackson." My sister said giving him a hug. Then my mom hugged him too.
"I brought a bottle of wine." Jackson said handing it to me.
"Oh you didn't have to but thanks." I said kissing his cheek. My mom took Harriet from my arms and I got a wine opener from the kitchen.
"Let's sit." I said. We walked over to the table. My mom sat next to my sister and I next to Jackson.
Jackson had brought a portable play pen so he set Harriet in it while we ate.
"This food is amazing. Thank you so much for having us." Jackson said. I gave him a small smile and held his hand.
"Your always welcome. You two should take a trip to NY and come visit us." Adrianna said.
"I'd like that." Jackson said taking a sip of his water. He didn't want any wine you know because he's driving and with Harriet.
"So how old is Harriet?" My mom asked.
"Almost a year and a half old." Jackson said smiling.
My mom "awed".
"Yea, she's like my little miracle."
After dinner we all sat in my living room sharing memories. But, Harriet started getting fussy and sleepy so Jackson headed out. He said goodbye to my mom and sister and I walked him out to the door.
We walked outside and to his car. He set Harriet up in her seat and closed the door.
"Tonight was nice. I'll see you tomorrow?" Jackson asked. I nodded.
He rested his hands at my sides as I set them on his chest.
"I love you." He said softly.
"I love you too." I responded.
We kissed one last time before he left.
"Good night." I said waving.
"Sweet Dreams...with me." Jackson said before getting inside his car. I giggled and shook my head at him. I watched him ride away and went back into the house.
My mom and Adri had already finished cleaning up.
"Aw man I was going to clean up." I said.
"Oh sweetie its okay."
"I'm exhausted, so I'm going to head to bed. Goodnight guys, love you."
I walekd up the stairs and into my bedroom. I quickly changed and fast asleep I was.
*The next day at the hospital*
"You paged?" I asked Ryan as I met him by a consult room.
He nodded.
"I missed you, we barely even see each other." He said.
"I know, I've been busy. Hey Adri and my mom are here." I said with a smile.
"Really? Definitely going to have to swing by your house to say hello.
"Ofcourse! I'm sure they'll be happy to see you." I said. He nodded.
"Who wouldn't be? Look at me." He said smirking. I slapped his chest and shook my head at his cockiness.
"Some things just never change Reynolds." I said.
"So did you actually page me for a consult or something? Or was this just your way of bonding with me?" I asked him.
"I just wanted to talk I guess." He said shrugging his shoulders.
"How are you and Maggie?"
"Eh, I don't know if it's going to work. We went out once but I wasn't as interested as I thought I was. I've been talking to April Kepner alot though. She's actually amazing and I think I'm developing feelings for her."
I looked at him with wide eyes.
"Oh wow. But make sure you tell Maggie how you feel before she thinks its going somewhere." I told him. He nodded.
"Definitely. Hey so what do you know about April?"
"She's my boyfriends ex wife." I sais chuckling.
"No way, really her and Jackson?"
I nodded.
"Yea, they have a baby too. Her name is Harriet."
"Oh. Well I really want to get to know her more."
"Yea you should. Who would have thought that I would be with Jackson and you with April and all of us being each others exes." I said laughing.
"Yea. My phone started vibrating." I took it out and looked down at it. I was getting paged to the lobby.
"Gotta go, don't get lost Jennings." I said walking away.
"You too Gates! Text me!" He yelled. I made my way to the lobby.
"You pa-" I didn't even get to finished the sentence when someone called my name.
"Melly? It's reallt you?!"
I stood there frozen. Why is he here? How did he find me? I slowly turned around to face the one person I that hurt my family the most.
I didn't want to cause a scene so I pulled him into the nearest consult room.
"What the hell are you doing here? And how the hell did you find me?" I yelled angrily at him.
"Woah, calm down. I missed you." He said caressing my face. I forcefully slapped his hand away.
"Don't touch me." I said backing away from him.
"Oh c'mon. I know you've missed me too." He said smirking. The worst part is...he isn't wrong.
