twenty four

I checked up on Aaron and Nelly a couple more times before my shift was over. We all then headed to Joe's besides Alex ofcourse, he was staying the night at the hospital.
"I can't believe we're actually doing this." Maggie said as she took her jacket off. I threw her a smile.
"Maggie, you're having sex tonight!" I exclaimed.
Mer, Nathan (Riggs), and & Amelia came along with Owen. Jackson was running a little late.
We sat down at conjoined tables and ordered some food.
"I'm going to go get us some shots." I said making my way to the bar.
"Hey you're Mel right?" Joe asked. I nodded.
"Yea, sorry I haven't came in more often. I've been really busy but can I get 7 shots of tequila?" I asked. He nodded.
"Definitely."
I checked my phone as I waited for them to be done.
"Is this seat taken?" A stranger asked.
I looked up and shook my head no.
"I'm Anthony." He said extending his hand out.
"Melissa." I said shaking his hand.
"Can I buy you a drink?" He asked with a smile. I nodded. Hey if a man offers to pay for alcohol, accept!!
He was a guy around my age, green eyes, dark brown hair.
"Can I get a ..." He waited for me to ask for what I wanted.
"Scotch on the rocks."
Joe nodded once again.
"So what's a beautiful woman like you sitting all alone here?" He asked.
"I'm actually w-" Before I could continue explaining I felt a pair of hands grab my face kissed me. I was started but then realized it was Jackson and kissed back. He's jealous.
I pulled away as he licked his lips.
The shots were ready.
"I'll take these to the table babe." Jackson said and walked off. I had to bite my lip to keep me from smiling. I turned back to Anthony. He seemed kind of disappointed.
"Well that answered my question." He said scratching the back of his head.
Joe placed the drink in front of me.
"Thanks." I replied with a smile.
I gave him my card for the shots and he went to charge them.
"Yea sorry, I'm taken. But, I happen to know someone that's trying to have some fun tonight." I said.
He raised an eyebrow.
I signed the recipet Joe gave me and got my card back.
I grabbed the Scotch and got up.
"It was nice meeting you." I said walking back to the table.
"Hey Maggie that guy bought this drink for you." I said handing her it. She looked behind me and checked him out.
"Ooh he's cute." She said ruffling her hair up.
"Alright now before you go and flirt, cheers to hopefully Maggie getting laid!" I said picking up a vodka shot. Everyone picked on up too and we all touched glasses.
"Cheers!" We yelled chuckling. We gulped it down and wow that burned.
Maggie set her shot down and walked towards the guy. He gave me a small smile when he saw her approaching. I nodded. I faced my attention to Jackson who was starred at me.
"What?" I asked.
"That guy was definitely flirting with you." He said grabbing my waist.
I nodded.
"Yea he was. But that kiss definitely threw him off. So I told him about my friend and well." I said pointing behind me. Jackson smiled and shook his head.
I wrapped my arms around his neck as I smiled at up him.
"Why don't we play some darts as we wait for the food?" Nathan suggested.
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Why not."
We walked towards the dart boards. We deicded to couple vs couple on the two dart boards. But, Mer & Nathan needed a pair of people so I went to tell Maggie and Anthony.
"Hey so we're playing darts and we need two more people are you guys in?" I asked.
"I actually suck but sure." Anthony said. Maggie nodded and they followed me.
"Ready to get your butt kicked?" Jackson trashed talked to Amelia and Owen. Amelia stuck her tounge out at Jackson as I laughed at them.
We played two games and ended up tieing. Our food finally came as our food came and we ate. Maggie and Anthony were actually hitting it off really well.
I checked the time, it was almost 11:30.
"Hey we should get going, Harriet must miss you." I said to him. He nodded.
We told the rest and they nodded.
"Totally forgot I had kids." Mer said with a smile. She was definitely drunk.
Nathan took her car keys away.
"You're definitely not driving tonight." He said. We all chuckled and shook our heads. I only had a beer and the tequila shot similarly to everyone else.
I went to go get the bill and decided to treat everyone. I gave Joe my card once again and signed and then went back to them.
"I covered it guys, don't worry about it." I said with a small smile.
"Thanks Mel!!" Mer slurred.
"You're welcome!" I said with a smile.
"Seriously though, thanks." Owen said. I nodded.
We all said goodbye and headed out.
Jackson and I got inside the car. He drove tonight because he barely finished the one beer he ordered.
"Tonight was fun." He said placing his hand on my thigh. I nodded leaning against the seat.
"Yea, we haven't had a nice time to joke around in a while."
"And Maggie's getting laid!" He exclaimed. A laugh escaped my mouth and I smiled at him. I looked over at him and saw him smiling. His mouth formed small crevices as his eyes squinted.
He looked over at me now that we were at a red light.
"So that really was only your second time at Joes?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yup, I never  went back after the first day I got here. "
He nodded and started driving again.
"When I first came to Grey-Sloan, we literally went to Joe's almost every day after our shifts."
"Alcoholics."
He laughed and shook his head.
"Well I mean, after 24/48 hour shifts you definitely need a drink."
"Back at home, we had a cafe and a bar right across the street. So it was either one or the other."
"I wanna visit NY someday. I've never been."
"I wanna take you too. I kind of want to go for Christmas. Harriet would love it." I said excitedly.
"Yea she would. Christmas definitely looks like it's the best over there."
"It is, well at least for me. It's my favortie season. I absolutely love the snow..well we have a love/hate relationship actually."
He chuckled.
"Good to know."
We got to Jackson's place and Harriet was still awake.
Jackson payed the babysitter and she left.
"Hey you're supposed to be in bed." Jackson said picking her up. I smiled at her.
"Yea you naughty little cutie."
She batted her long curly eyelashes at us.
"You're staying the night right?" I nodded. I took my jacket and shoes off. Jackson handed me Harriet as he took his Jacket off and then we walked to his room.
"Crap, I left my phone in the car. I'll be right back."
I nodded and layed down with Harriet on top of me. She layed her head down on my chest and closed her small eyes.
"You must really miss your momma." I whispered sighing.
"I promised your momma I'd look after you, and I will. As long and me and daddy are together I'm going to treat you like you were mine. Goodnight princess."
I rubbed her back and was sure she instantly fell asleep. I guess she was literally waiting for us to get home to fall asleep. I looked up and saw Jackson starring at us from the doorframe.
He walked towards us and kissed Harriet's forehead.
He took his shoes off.
"Want me to put her down?" He asked. I shook my head no.
"I got it, but I just wanna lay here for a little bit."
He nodded and layed down next to me.
"She used to fall asleep on top of April like that when she was smaller." I kept my hand on her small back.
"I know this is out of the blue but, move in with me?" I asked. I looked at him as I bit my lip waiting for his response.
"You can move in to my house I have 4 bedrooms and you know I live alone. Harriet could have her own room. I don't want you think that I'm trying to take April's place in Harriet's life, because I could never. But I wanna be the femal figure in her life. Before April died, she made me promise her that I would look after you and Harriet. And I think the best way is having both of you with me at all times."
He looked at me and then at Harriet.
He nodded slowly.
"This is going to help alot. I won't be constantly reminded of April. I mean Harriet is a constant and living reminder but everytime I pass her room it hurts a little."
I carefully got up and layed Harriet down in her crib. I put a blanket over her and then went back into bed with Jackson.
He wrapped his arms around me as I layed my head on his chest. I lifted my head and planted a kiss on his lips.
I gave him a small smile as I pulled away.
"So how come you have a big house all to yourself?" Jackson asked me.
"Well, during college and medical school I modeled with this club called The Lions. Thats how I payed for my schools and then well became a full time doctor. I made a lot of money, like so much more than I expected. I put it in a fund and have been adding since. I decided to buy a big house here because I knew I would be staying here and most likely going to start a family. And I guess now it's actually happening."
He smiled at me tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"I always knew you had a model body but never knew you were one." He said looking me up and down.
I shook my head at me.
"Me on the other hand with the Avery foundation, my mom and I are really skeptical with our money. Even though its a fortune my mom grew up not having alot. I didn't on the other hand and just had everything I needed and extra. I've always had small apartments because it's always just mostly been me. Then I married April and we moved into a bigger apartment. We never got a house. But after our divorce I got this place for me and then we found out she was pregnant. I made her move in with me and always watched over her."
I gave him a small smile.
"You're an amazing human being, you know that right?" I asked admiring him.
"If I'm amazing, you're perfect."
I smiled at him and shook my head.
"I love you."
"Yea, I love you to baby." 
We kissed again and then I pulled away.
I yawned and sat back up. Jackson got up and opened a drawer taking out a shirt and handing it to me.
"Thanks." I changed and so did he. We got into bed and fell asleep.
