It was all happening so fast.
One minute she was staring at whom she supposedly was about to literally squeeze to death disappeared, only to appear behind her, a small blade put harshly underneath her chin, light glinting. She froze, breathing automatically stopping.
Hori raised her arm, about to say, or scream out something when the man in front of her gave a warning glance that meant death. Swallowing, she forced herself to be quiet unless something alarming happened.
A hand slipped around Ellie's shoulders and nudged her to the side of the road. Licking her lips, Ellie tried her best to calm down her sprinting heart and not panic.
"Been a long time." The voice hit her ears again. "I'm surprised you knew who I was the moment you saw me.
"I didn't."
"Well someone still loves me."
"What do you want?" But unfortunately, though she wanted to make it sound like he had no effect on her, the words came out shaky, almost breaking.
"You reach my shoulder now, good job, I bet you worked hard for that huh?" For a second it was like he was sincerely praising her but then that mocking soft laugh again came.
"Cut the crap here, I know why you're here." Ellie spit out. Their conversation was hushed, not allowing Hori to hear what they were both saying.
"Oh, you do?" He asked, amused.
"You want me to keep quiet don't you?" Okay don't cry, you can do this, Ellie chanted inside her head.
"I thought that message won't be enough, and I wanted to see you." That got a breathless laugh out of her.
"Oh yeah, I'm just dying to believe that." She retorted sarcastically but stopped once the blade pressed against her throat.
"I need something else other than this Ellie." He continued. Don't say my name! She had to shout it out, he was not playing fair.
Ellie furrowed her brows. "Mwo?"
"We can both help your friends get through this alive, I'm willing to help." He whispered, eyes set straight ahead, not even sparing her one look.
Ellie was at first relieved to hear that but then her breath caught again as she remembered. "What's the catch?"
He chuckled, cool breath raising the hair on the back of Ellie's neck. "Aw, you've grown so much." He pressed his temple against her cheek and rocked her sideways. Ellie gritted her teeth and took a deep breath, trying not to fall apart. His hands around her was already causing a number of emotions to go through her mind and it was not very healthy.
"Cut to the chase!" She hissed.
"You know that guy Coltsman?" He asked, seriousness back full force.
"What about him?" Ellie asked.
"I need you to find something about him for me." He continued.
"What?"
"For now, I'll let it be. But you will do exactly as I say or else you know what will happen." The knife was starting to make slow circles on her shoulder. "And I'm not only pointing out that your friends will get hurt....you and that girl over there will be facing some serious consequences."
Ellie's mouth dropped open. He was threatening to hurt her. The person who protected her for her entire life, was threatening to physically harm her. "You can't do that."
An exasperated sigh was the reply she got. "Listen princess, I don't have time to demonstrate my lack of hesitation on doing what I intend to do at the moment, but hey, now that you've mentioned it, I'll make sure to try it out next time, what say?"
"I'll do it." As much as she didn't want to be held a puppet with him stringing her around however he pleased, she couldn't risk everyone else around her getting hurt, that would just be so selfish of her.
"Smart girl, you picked the right choice of words. Now it's time to bid my darling goodbye unfortunately." He faked a sad sigh and nodded pitifully before leaning down and placing his lips on her cheek, both of their eyes closing.
Ellie was about to rip her face away but then he broke the small contact and smiled cheekily. "Oh, no telling who I am though okay? Until next time darling." Then just like that, the coolness of the blade against her throat disappeared and so did the arm around her shoulders.
Licking her lips, she searched around her for good measure to see if her was still there only to find a very surprised and frightened Hori leaning against the wall, clutching her heart, eyes wide.
"Oh my god...." She gasped, knees giving out.
Hori found some strength left in her to run towards her friend and knelt down beside her. "Oh my shiz! Dho gwenchana?!" She placed her palms on Ellie's very pale cheeks and patted them lightly.
Ellie nodded after a few seconds, her eyes able to move. "Yes...yes I'm fine." Oh which was a big fat lie. Her heart and the coldness of her skin clearly screamed that she was nowhere near to being fine!
"Are you sure? Who was that?" Hori's frantic question brought a lump to her throat.
Slowly shaking her head, she whispered. "I don't know...."
Hori, through her fear stocked face looked confused. "Then what did he want?"
"I guess," Ellie tried to speak through her clogged throat. "I think he was...I don't know! I guess he was looking for money and he didn't find any, I don't know." By now her voice was high pitched.
"But he said-"
"I don't know who that was!" Ellie screamed, throwing her hands up in the air. She was tired, drained of all energy and she wanted her bed.
"Okay, okay! Let's get you home, you're in shock. Come on, try to get up sweetie." Hori encouraged as she gently helped Ellie stand up on her still wobbly feet and waddle down the road but hurriedly.
There were tears in her eyes but she wouldn't dare drop one single one of them, they would go to waste.
"What changed you so much Yoongi?" Was the only question that was ringing in her ears.
