Chapter XIV
Irena
I woke up startled. Apparently, Raylan and Codey are both partners in crime, the crime being playing pranks on people. They thought it would be funny to see me wet like a washcloth after a car wash.
"Man, you should have seen your faces!" Raylan exclaimed and high fived Codey. So, he wet Cat too. Ok.....Not the smartest move there.
Before any one could think, water spewed from the top bunk onto the boy's heads. They both squealed like little girls, which caused a familiar laugh to ring.
"IN YOUR FACES!!!" Cat yelled. She was probably on her back, laughing her head off. She made it down the bunk ladder and slapped the boys on the back. I thought they would protest and whine. After a quick silence, all three of them bursted with content. I joined in, but we were interrupted by the door of the cabin opening.
"Well, it's about time! We-" Mason began until he saw us four drenched to the bone. His grin went to a smirk, his smirk to a giggle, and his giggle to uncontrollable laugh. When he was done, the chorus began again. We were practically out of breath when we regained our senses.
"Ok.Ok. So, we kinda have to get practicing. Marvin isn't the most patient person in the world."
"Fime, fine. Just let us dry off, and we'll be there." Cat said. Mason nodded and left. Cat turned back to the boys. She faked a serious tone, but we all knew it wasn't real.
"Take this as a," she laughed again. "As a lesson. You don't want to mess with the Queen of Laughter!"
"Ok, your majesty," Codey replied, sarcastically. I had noticed now, his eyes were a more green colored. The major difference now was their hair. "As long as we get to the Princes." Cat considered this, stroking an imaginary beard, which made the boys giggle. She nodded, and the boys made their way, still wet, out the door.
"Hey, who's the king?" Raylan whispered.
"Duh! I am!"
"No, I wanna be king" The two went back and forth until they left the cabin.
Cat and I didn't need to go to the baths since we were already wet. We dryed off and changed into our extra camp shirts. We pinned our Mural Crowns, grabbed our weapons, and headed out the door. As we walked, Cat kept making plots on how to get the boys back for their "sins". I rolled my eyes, and kept walking. I began to think on what I had to facw now. My past. Him. Him! Anyone but that tan, brown eyed, brown haired boy. I suddenly heard Cat yelp as she tripped on something. A perfectly cut ruby.
She looked down at her foot, and back at me. She put her hand to her head and groaned.
"Ohhh. I will never walk again." She said with an exaggerated sigh. She then smiled and winked.
"Iry, don't be worried. We both have been running away from everything bad, and we have to face those fears sooner or later. C'mon. I'll be right there with you." She said, as she threw her arm across my neck, like she was going to headlock me. She wasn't violent so yeah.
"O-Ok." She smiled, and we continued to walk. We made it to the wide fields in New Rome, and saw our mentors, conversing with each other. Once we were in ear shot, we kinda over heard them.
"C'mon, man. You can't blame yourself for what happened in the past."
"I know, Mase. She, just. She'll never forgive or forget. I know her that way-" The two turned to us as we walked up.
"Hey, gals! How have ya been?" Mason ask, taking up a southern accent. We smiled and acted like we didn't hear anything. Had Marvin been thinking aboit what happened too? No, he. Well, maybe.
"We're mighty fine, kind sir." Cat said back. We all laughed a bit, and regained composure.
"So. Bows with bows, spathas with spathas?" Marvin asked. Mason glanced at him and nodded.
"Ok, Mizz Cat, follow mua." Mason began to walk. Cat gave me an encouraging grin and walked off. Now it was just me, and the sould who taunted my dreams.
