Through the entire drive Amelia could feel his eyes from the review mirror, glancing at her time and time again like they were school kids until she finally had enough and decided to speak up

“would you stop looking at me like that?”
“like what?”
“your eyes are literally eating me from the review mirror"
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed Amelia but I’m driving- I'm looking at the street not you" he replied annoyed.
“oh please mcgarrett you never look at the street when you’re driving you just turn the wheel and hope a bus won’t crash into you-"
“right now I’m praying for the exact opposite!”
“HEY! You asked me to come-"
“I asked you a lot of things Ams-"

“Enough!” cut in Danny like a parent who was stopping a fight between his two kids. Amelia looked out of the window “you two are on time out from now on or I’ll just throw you both in the street"

“she started it!” he complained
“For crying out loud mcgarrett can you be any more childish-" Amelia’s voice trailed off when she realized she had asked the exact same question at him 4 years ago in the governor's office. Back then, very much like now, they were fighting like cat and dog. Steve gave her another look from the review mirror, she didn’t mind this one, it was different, it meant something else.

“Amelia can you please answer the question?” asked Danny, tilting his head to the left be able to look at her from the side of his eyes.
“what question?”
“the one I asked 2 minutes ago, before you threw a tantrum on Steve-"
“Whose side are you on Danny?” she complained, leaning forward

“I’m on the side of the parallel universe where I get to drive my own car I’m peace- right now I'm neither driving my car or I am in peace so I would really appreciate it of you just answered the question- who was the guy on your cell?”

She layed back again, blowing air from her nose in annoyance “I already told you I don’t know- it could be anyone! And anyway who that guy was is not the point-"
“it’s not?”
“No! Obviously not- God you guys have gotten stupid in the last four years-"

Steve opened his mouth to argue but Danny raised his finger warning him to stay silent.

“the point is to find the leak! Chances are whitener stole the files from me is the same person that leaked the information that I was under CIA custody! I’m pretty sure David didn’t go around advertising my capture and except him AMD his team, 5-0 were the only ones that knew about it” she looked at Steve, smirking “maybe mcgarrett screwed up again-"
“Ok Hold on- how is this about me?”
“I’m sorry isn’t everything?” she answered ironically

Steve laughed, he held on so tight on the steering wheel his hands would begin to bleed if he didn’t let go.

“what about hunter? Where is he?” asked Danny, ignoring Amelia’s sarcastic comment
“don’t even think for a second that he is behind this-“
“hilarious how easy it is for you to blame me but when your new boyfriend comes in the picture you sound so sure-"
“he saved my life Steve!” she cut him off, her voice topping his violently.

“ok what about the girl? Madeline-"
“its Matilda” she corrected Danny “she didn’t know about the drives, didn’t even know about the shooting we kept her out of it on purpose.”
“she might have heard something, done something-"
“Danny! Come on she is just a kid- before we look into her we have to look at David's agents.”
“I agree with you but the drives were taken from you- the knew exactly where to look which means it was someone that knew you had them in the first place. Hunter and Kono are the only ones you trusted with the information- but you lived with Matilda for so long…” he didn’t finish his sentence, he didn’t have to. Everyone knew where this was going.
