Amelia played the footage from the explosion on the CIA building on repeat. She sat in Kono's office, her head on her hand, just looking at the screen, the same video over and over again trying to spot a hint or a lead, anything at all. Outside the pouring ran was leaving a nice background noise of the raindrops falling on the window and the light on the desk was falling on her softly. Her eyes began to close as the atmosphere was getting heavier and heavier. She kept waking herself as her hand would slip from the desk, startling her and sometimes she’d stay awake for longer than 5 minutes but it was only 5 minutes at most before sleep tried to steal her away again and again like a ghost.

Steve, who was on the office next to hers, was watching her. He pretended he had work to do, found excuses to stay for as long as she did. She was supposed to leave soon, go to Adam’s safe house with Kono. Chin was already gone and Danny too had gone to pick up grace from her mother’s house. Kono was supposed to be here soon but instead of her, Steve received a message. It was Kono telling him that her car wouldn’t start. Steve realized that what that meant is that he would have to drive her himself to the safe house. He threw his phone on the desk in annoyance. Grover came in that same second, same old smile on his face.

“do you need anything else? I’m heading home.”
“can you take her with you?” he asked, practically begging.

Grover raised his eyebrows and glanced back at the girl in the office “devil's child?”
Steve laughed at the nickname “yeah.”
“where am I supposed to take her?”

Steve bit his lip, thinking. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. “anywhere but here.” He mumbled.

“man I’m sorry but I don’t think she’ll just get up and come with me. And I think you two have some issues you need to solve by yourselves.”

As must as Steve hated to admit it, Grover was right. They had issues and if they were ever going to solve them they needed to talk to each other without the rest of the team watching them through the curtains. He motioned his head at Grover to leave and Grover obeyed.

Amelia came out of her office while Grover was passing through and she smiled at him.

“you’re the new guy, right? Was it Grong-"
“it’s Grover.” He corrected her.
“right I’m sorry. It is nice to meet you.” She held her hand out for him, he took it kindly. Shaking it gently.

“pleasure’s all mine considering you’re dead"
“ha! You got humor! You and I are gonna get along great!”
“that would imply you’re staying.”
“would that be such a bad thing?”
“why don’t you ask him that?” he gestured at Steve who was standing behind her and then left them alone in the large room. Amelia stared at Steve with her guilty eyes and he moved forward. She crossed her arms like she was preparing for another round of comebacks.

“Kono called she said her car won’t start-"

Amelia’s eyes opened so widely the almost dropped of her face. “what?”
“Danny and chin are already gone so I guess I’m your only option.”
“thanks but I rather walk"
“Amelia there’s a storm outside”
"I can handle some water”
“look I don’t like this anymore than you do but would you stop acting like a 5 year old for a second and admit you need a drive?”
