dance

"sam, who are you asking?"

"it's a dance you guys have to relax."

"the dance is in two days! you need a date, sam."

~

it wasn't just a dance. it was the valentine's day dance.

samuel didn't think much of it since there were other major dances, like white day and prom, which would be coming up.

~

"i might just go alone."

~

his friends were shocked at his answer since they all had dates, except for sam.

if anyone were to have a date first, it would have been samuel.

plus, it was the valentine's dance. you couldn't show up alone.

~

(y/n) debated on going, but knew she wasn't going to get asked.

and a date was mandatory if you went.

~

maybe samuel will ask you!

are you stupid, he won't ask you.

but he was so sweet after the game and-

shut up optimism!

~

(y/n) just sighed, knowing she was going to have to face samuel on her way home.

they did share the same route.

the girl quickly grabbed her bag as the bell sounded.

~

maybe i could beat samuel home.

~

"hey! (y/n)!"

~

she groaned quietly as she had barely made it out of the school before samuel had caught her.

~

"hi samuel."

~

"how was your day?"

~

great, besides your annoying presence in my head that i can't get out.

"good. you?"

~

(y/n) tried to keep herself from vocalizing her thoughts.

~

"i'm good."

~

though they had gotten close with their project partnership, tutoring sessions and a few after school walks, they still had a hard time making small talk.

they mostly spoke about school since its what they focused on most of the time.

~

come on samuel just ask her.

~

i hope he asks...

are you stupid? stop fantasizing.

but look! he's got his thinking face. isn't it adorable?

it is but-

~

"(y/n)?"

~

samuel's voice snapped her out of her thoughts and she looked up at him.

~

"we're at your house."

samuel pointed to her front door and (y/n) nodded.

~

i was stupid to think he would ask me.

"bye samuel."

~

"wait!"

ask her samuel. say it!

"i-i have a question..."

~

(y/n)'s heart raced.

~

is he really going to ask?

"um, what is it?"

~

"w-would you..."

~

(y/n) was scared samuel would hear her heart beating.

she did her best to stop blushing, failing evidently.

~

"proofread my essay for english sometime next week?"

samuel are you stupid?! what the hell are you doing?

how could you chicken out like that?!

~

(y/n) felt her stomach drop and her heart shatter.

why on earth would a boy like him ask me to the valentine's day dance?

what is this a cliche drama? a fanfiction? no. this is reality idiot.

for a girl who is considered one of the smartest in school, the idea of him asking you was pretty idiotic and irrational one.

~

(y/n) held back her overwhelming emotions.

she just wanted to cry.

but, she smiled.

~

"of course."

~

"thanks. see you tomorrow."

~

"yeah... bye samuel."

~

samuel felt like a complete imbecile for not just asking her to the dance? why was it so difficult?

(y/n) gave herself a reality check because she was right, her life wasn't a drama.

a boy couldn't ask the girl because of social standards, right?

honestly...

how much more cliché could their lives get?
