mvp

"well samuel i guess your team will be seeing you on the court today."

~

samuel looked at his test paper and he quickly looked to (y/n).

i got an 85?! yes!

~

(y/n) obviously got perfect, but only cared about samuel's mark.

she turned slightly to see a happy samuel.

should i text him and ask how he did?

no, i'll wait for the end of class.

~

i can't wait to tell her what i got!

~

i hope he did well.

~

she's going to be so proud! i get to play!

~

"what did you get?"

the words slipped from (y/n)'s lips as soon as the two were outside of the class.

~

"85."

samuel saw (y/n)'s eyes light up in pride and happiness.

"and since i'll be playing. i expect to see you there watching."

~

he wants me to watch his game?

"o-okay."

(y/n) what the hell?! why did you say yes?!

~

she said yes?!

"game starts at seven. be there a little early to get a good spot."

samuel smiled and they departed their respected ways.

~

(y/n) struggled to find a practical outfit.

what do you even wear to a basketball game?

what do you care though?

will samuel like-

~

(y/n) stopped her thought. she shook her head and quickly pulled a random outfit together.

she called to her parents that she was leaving and ran out of the house.

~

samuel consistently checked the clock.

only ten minutes until game time

where is she?

~

"yo! sam!"

"h-huh?"

"what's with you? you seem off." his team mate daewhi asked.

"it's nothing."

~

(y/n) ran in with only five minutes to spare.

she spotted an open seat in the front row of the bleachers and thought it was little to close.

sadly it was the only spot.

she sat down and scanned the court for samuel.

she read the name "kim" on the back of a jersey of someone shooting.

the team was told to clean up and she saw him coming her way.

~

samuel went to grab the extra basketballs his team had missed.

he caught a glimpse of (y/n) and smiled.

he couldn't help but feel extremely confident now that's she was here.

~

they exchanged small smiles and waves across the court and throughout the game.

whenever samuel would get a perfect shot - which was quite often - he would smile at (y/n).

at the end of a major game a team mvp is announced and this game it was samuel.

the mvp got a mini plastic basketball with the letters 'mvp' with the game labeled on to it.

a fun team ritual samuel was lucky to be apart of.

on his way out of the chance room he checked his phone and saw a text from (y/n).

~

she wants to walk home with me?

~

i hope he walks home with me.

(y/n) smiled as samuel met her outside.

~

"good job, mvp."

the two awkwardly walked home together, sharing some small talk about the game.

~

"wouldn't have gotten it without you."

~

"you could've."

~

"not really. thanks for helping me out... and showing up."

~

"it was all you." (y/n) smiled, looking at her feet.

~

as the approached her house samuel gave her a quick hug.

then, he gave her his mvp memento.

~

"you were my mvp. thanks."

~

samuel was lucky he was fast enough that she didn't see his red face.

~

(y/n) was happy he didn't notice her blushing cheeks.

~

with all the events in that one day,

it was all too cliché.
