memories

"i'm sorry... but who are you?" (y/n) repeated as her eyes scanned around the room.

~

"what happened?"

"you were in an accident. b-but what do you mean who am i?" samuel interjected quickly.

~

his face was filled with panic as he looked at his girlfriend, who looked too confused to process anything at the moment.

~

"i really don't recognize you..."

~

"i'm samuel... your boyfriend. i waited here the entire time you were out and..."

he took a deep breath.

"are you sure you don't recognize me?" samuel's eyes watered.

~

she tensed at the word boyfriend and eyed him again.

~

"i-i'm so sorry... but i just don't remember you..." she mumbled with tears in her eyes.

(y/n) couldn't help but feel guilty.

the sweet boy in front of her must have done so much and somehow she knew that.

and she didn't remember him.

~

the doctors did a physical check to make sure (y/n) was healthy enough to go back home.

~

luckily, it was now summer and school wasn't a problem.

(I don't care if the time line don't fit y'all can fight me bc this sorry needs to MOVE)

~

she was cleared to go home and samuel decided to go home with her and try to regain some of her memories.

~

the doctor told him not to push it.

but obviously, samuel didn't care.

(A SAV Sorry back to the story)

~

he showed her the teddy bear he had won on their first date.

~

she didn't remember it.

~

he then showed her the cute mvp prize he had given to her when she had watched his game before they started dating.

~

she didn't know what it was.

~

he told her about how they met.

~

she didn't have a single memory of it.

~

"you're a popular basketball player and
i'm just some nerd. we're dating? this sounds like a cheesy romance novel... sorry, but how cliché can this get?"

she looked at him with pure innocence, not knowing how much it hurt him.

~

samuel was speechless.

"i know it sounds crazy when you put it like that, but i swear that's what happened!"

~

"sorry... i just don't remember, sorry sam."

~

"d-did you just call me sam?"

~

"yeah. doesn't everyone call you that?"

the same look of innocence was plastered across her face.

~

(y/n) was completely oblivious to the fact that she - never in her life - had referred to the boy as just sam.

she always used his full name.

always.

~

he knew he couldn't give up.

but part of him knew she wouldn't get those memories back.

it would be a miracle if she did though.

~

she lead him outside and he gave her a kiss on the cheek, which she was slightly (really) awkward about.

~

he knew their story sounded too cliché to be true.

but it was theirs.

it was just his now.

~

he just left, recalling all the memories they shared.

all the ones he knew she didn't have anymore.

~

this isn't some fairytale.

a happy ending?

happily ever after?

how cliché could you be?
