Zoe's POV
As I went back in our crowd, I still received a few compliments and pats in the back, telling me that I did a spectacular job sending Pansy to the Hospital Wing. But as the noise faltered, Professor Lockhart started to speak."Impressed? Well I expect you all are! How about another duel from my greatest students?"
Everyone-except for the trio and I- cheered and clapped. Everyone shouted and cheered as they agreed with Professor Lockhart in full enthusiasm.
Who's the lucky student?
"May I ask Mr. Potter to come up?"
He nodded and quickly made his way up the platform, excitement hidden in his eyes.
"We all know that Mr. Potter is worthy of his title 'The Boy Who Lived' because of his power. Therefore, I choose Mr. Potter as my champion. Professor Snape? Do you have a champion?"
I looked at father to see him smirk as he quickly turned his back from Professor Lockhart and pointed at one of his students to go up the platform. As my eyes wandered on who it was, I wasn't surprised when Draco quickly nodded and went up the platform, walking towards Harry in a quick pace and stopped a few feet away from him.
Both Professors were now at the end of the platform as they watch both their students.
Harry and Draco raised their wands in front of them as they glared daggers at each other.
"Scared Potter?" Draco said with a smirk.
Harry, still glaring, slowly spoke with venom "You wish."
I can't help but feel excited. Since our first year both boys have been arch enemies up to this day.
As both students walked away from each other and made a fighting stance, Professor Lockhart gave a few reminders.
"In a count of three I want you to disarm your oponent. Only disarm!"
I doubt these lunatics would follow that reminder.
As Professor Lockhart started counting, I felt a tug on my arm and I quickly whipped my head to see Death, with a serious expression. I furrowed my eyebrows at him and looked at everyone and saw that no one seems to see him but me. As I gave him a questioning look he tugged my arm until he finally dragged me out of the crowd.
"What's wrong?"
"I sense a dark presence... It is in this school.. an object laced with dark magic, tainted with a soul to be preserved until it manifests on someone's life force. You must get it.. before it falls to an innocent student."
"Where is it?"
Death immediately walked out of the Great Hall and I followed him, practically running. He's troubled... I've never seen him like this since the day I almost died. It must be really serious... But if it is, why would I be the one to retrieve it? Won't I be in danger as well?
As these thoughts came to mind, I didn't notice Death stopping from his tracks and I bumped his back.
"Why are we stopping?"
"I know the dangers of this object, but I know that it won't affect you because I am here to protect you."
"That didn't go well last time." I mumbled
"The power on that place surrounded the power I have. I was trapped, my powers were limited and it still pains me to this day because I think of it every night, not being able to protect you from that monster that almost killed you."
