Emerald's POV

"So is it real?"

I looked up from my phone to Kyle. "Is what real?"

"The lip piercing."

"It's not like my parents would ever actually allow me when I'm only 16." I laughed softly. "No. It's obviously fake."

"It looks good on you." Kyle studied me. "What if I got a piercing."

I glared at him and laughed. Kyle looked really preppy. A "nice boy".  I studied his face. "I don't know. You could get one. You just have a baby face that's all."

Kyle rolled his eyes.

Julian and Nalia joined us. Of course, Nalia sat next to Kyle.

I don't hate her. In fact, she's my best friend. My only friend actually. Besides Julian.

"So, what do you guys wanna do tonight?"

"Im staying in. And I'm gonna sleep."

"You're no fun, Emerald."

"Eh, deal with it I guess. You guys can go out and do stuff. I'm staying in. I'm young, I need sleep."

"You're almost turning 17." Julian raised his eyebrow.

"And your point is?"

"Come on. We can go to that 24 hour diner I saw when we were coming to your house." Kyle put his hand on my knee.

I tensed up. "Uh. Oh Ricky's?"

"Please! I love their ice cream." Nalia grinned.

They all stared at me and Kyle's hand was still on my knee. His grip seemed to get tighter.

"Ugh fine."

"Yay!"

Kyle let go after realizing he was starting to grip my thigh. He coughed. I moved my leg away from him. I feel weird.

I got up from the couch and went in the kitchen where the adults were. "Hey mom?"

"Hm?"

"Uh we're all going to Ricky's to catch up." I waited for her to respond. Please say no.

"Good idea! I'll tell Will once he comes home."

Nice. I faked a smile. "Ok. We'll come later, then."

I left and put on my shoes.

"K, we can go now." I waited by the door. They all got up and we went to Julian's car.

It was only four of us and the car could hold five people. But Kyle just sat right next to me. Really closely and I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable and claustrophobic.

Once we got there, I immediately got out and rushed in the diner.

They followed behind me.

"Wow, you sure like this diner."

I simply nodded and sat at a table for four.

Nalia sat next to me and the guys sat across from us.

She leaned over to my ear and whispered, "He is smoking."

"Ugh Nalia. Can you go one day without fangirling?"

She laughed. "No. Hey, let's go shopping tomorrow."

"Nalia.. you know shopping isn't my thing."

"I just.." she frowned, "I just wanted to give you a little makeover."

I looked down to my usual pair of leggings with the over sized t-shirt and uggs.
