Emerald's POV

I sat quietly across from Zach and ate my mint chocolate chip ice cream.

He broke the awkward silence by his coughing. "Uhm. So how are you, Emerald."

"Im good. Thank you, Zach."

"And you're 17 today?"

I nodded.

"That's great. Happy birthday."

I awkwardly smiled. "Thank you. How are you?"

"Im good as well." His phone rang. "Sorry. Let me get this."

I nodded and continued eating.

I smiled when I remembered how the last time we met, he was leaving and I was devastated.

We were about 11 years old and right when he was leaving, he kissed me and said he's always liked me.

He was like a best friend to me and I found it all special.

He came back sighing. "My girlfriend keeps calling me, sorry."

I took a deep breath. "Wh- who is she?" I put on a fake smile.

"Her name is Merida." He wore a smile and I couldn't help but smile as well. "She makes me so happy and I don't know how I ever became so lucky." He grinned this time and sighed.

"That's amazing, Zach. I'm so happy for you."

"She called saying she was going to come visit me and stay for a few days."

I nodded and smiled. "Great!"

I turned the knob of my front door and entered my pitch black house. I closed the door behind me and tried to adjust my eyes to the darkness and reached out my hand to find the light switch.

My hand touched the switch and I flicked it on.

"Surprise!"

I gasped and hit my head on the wall.

"Shit!" I winced and laughed.

"Oh no!"

"Happy birthday!" My parents hugged me tightly and I continued laughing.

"Thanks guys! Scared the crap out of me." I rubbed my head and laughed.

They let go and led me to the living room.

"We got your close friends and family here tonight so you don't, well... faint again."

I saw Kyle, Liam, Zach, Courtney, Zach, Jona, my aunt and uncle, Julian, Nalia, Nina, and Lynn.

My mom sat down on the couch next to my dad. "We also wanted to tell you.." she puts her hand on her stomach, "that I have an appointment to find out if it's a girl or a boy." She smiled big and took a deep breath.

"Yay!" Aunt Aria sat down next to my mom and hugged her.

"Wow!" My uncle grinned down to aunt Aria. "I guess your little girl or boy will have a cousin to grow up with."

My aunt blushed and grinned as well.

"No way." My mom quietly glared at both of them. "Oh my god... really?!" She smiled big.

"Congrats." I smiled at them and received more smiles.

I went to the kitchen and saw Kyle grab a fruit from a bowl. He turned around and stopped once he saw me. He put the fruit back in the bowl.

He smiled at me. "Happy birthday." He held open his arms.

I sighed softly and wrapped my arms around him. He closed the hug and held me tight. He took a deep breath through his nose and kissed my forehead.

"I'm sorry about last night. Liam and I shouldn't have acted like that.

I think back to last night. They were acting immature and it all piled up that I felt like exploding.

"Kyle.. it's fine. I shouldn't have reacted that way."

He said nothing but just hugged me tighter.

"Kyle... I'm close to not being able to breathe." My voice was muffled and the side of my face was pressed hard on his chest.

"I just want to hold you forever."

I snorted. "Come on, Kyle. Let go of me. Please. You should know that I'm not exactly a hugging type of person."

"Then why are you hugging me right now. I guess I'm considered lucky?" His grip loosened a bit more.

"You're considered annoying." I rolled my eyes and stared up at him. His eye shined and looked down at me.

"Annoying, huh?" He raised his eyebrow and quickly lifted me up.

"Oh my lord! Kyle! Holy!-" he placed me on the kitchen counter. He stood between my legs and smiled at me.

"Why are you so annoying." I groaned and rolled my eyes.

"Oh come on." He started kissing my face softly.

My heart was beating fast. He made me feel loved, warm, and nervous.

"You love me being annoying." He whispered to my ear which left chills down my spine. He kissed the corner of my mouth.

"Quit teasing me and kiss me goddamnit!" I snapped at him and grinned.

"As you ordered." He made his way to my lips and kissed me softly at first and then it progressed.

Everything felt so natural and amazing at this moment. I forgot about everything else.

Liam's POV

I stopped at the kitchen door and looked through the corner.

My fist clenched when I saw Emerald and Kyle kissing. My breath was shaky and it seemed as if everything stopped.

See, I'm an idiot so the first thing that came to my mind was to stop them.

I slammed open the door and casually walked in.

Kyle let go of Emerald and glanced at me.

"Uhm.." I didn't know what to say in this moment but then I saw something behind Emerald. "Can y'all move. I wanted some... fruit."

"Uh.. yup." Emerald got off the counter and stared down to the ground.

I got an apple and glanced at her. She looked up and stared right into my eyes.

Emerald's POV

I could tell he was hurt. By the way his eyebrows furrowed and how glossy his eyes were. His knuckles seemed white. His mouth was formed into a tight line. I thought I saw him shake his head a bit and sigh. And he left.

My heart was beating fast and loud.

"He's not worth it Emerald."

"No.. im not worth it."

"No don't say that." He grabbed my hand and pulled me in. I avoided his gaze.

"Kyle stop-"

"Why do you think you're not special? Why can't you see what I see."

I stayed silent and looked to the floor. He kept reassuring that he loved me but I couldn't focus. I felt that in any moment he would jump up and say "just kidding. This is all a joke!"

I couldn't help but feel sorry for myself. Two amazing guys gave me attention which I didn't deserve.

My mind and these thoughts clouded me. And I ran again.
