Emerald's POV

"Okay so I know you really like to wear dark colors." Nalia pulled me in a store.

"Wait, you're allowing me to wear dark colors?"

She nodded and smiled. "I'm not terrible. I still want you to feel comfortable in your new clothes."

"Thank god. I thought I was gonna have to wear some blinding pink color."

"I wouldn't think any bright color would match. It'd look weird with your green hair."

"Always thinking of my hair." I sighed softly and gave a slight smile.

"Of course." She went to the dresses and shoved a bunch of dresses to me. "Perfect!"

She ran everywhere. I think she got the whole store. She got jeans and shirts and shoes and.. heels. Crap, I'm going to break an ankle sooner or later.

"Let's go to the fitting room, now." She pulled me and led me to a fitting room.

"Alright. Try everything on and come out when you have a cute outfit."

"Uhm. Okay." I went inside with the huge pile of clothes. My eye caught this black dress.

No harm in trying it out. I put it on and stepped out bare footed.

"Oh. Yes perfect! You look hot, girl."

I laughed at her reacting.

"Try those heels with it. It could be perfect for a party or something."

"Heels? Nalia! I'm going to snap my neck."

"At least you'll look smoking when you do! Kyle won't keep his hands off of you."

"Kyle? Uh Nalia. I-"

"Shhh. Try on the heels."

I groaned and got the heels out the box. They were super gorgeous. They wouldn't look good on me.

I put them on and stood up slowly. "I.. can't. Oh god." I wobbled a bit and got my balance.

"Oh my god. That looks perfect! You could wear this to the party we're having next week?"

"What party?" I held on to the door for balance and slightly let go. I finally stood up straight and started walking. "I think I'm finally getting this!" I grinned and stared at myself in the mirror. I couldn't recognize myself. But damn, I looked good.

"I heard that our parents are throwing some party to celebrate everyone coming back together."

"That's nice."

"Alright. Those high waisted jeans with... that crop top."

I sighed and closed the fitting room door. I didn't want to show it, but I felt pretty and was actually having fun.

"Makeup? Seriously?"

She took out her bag of make up. "Yeah. You can have these. I have a lot at home." She smiled and started putting makeup on me. "I can do light makeup. I don't want to completely transform you."

I nodded and closed my eyes.

She sighed and opened her box. "Thank you for allowing me to do this. I love my mom but you feel like a sister. And it's nice to have someone who doesn't think you're annoying."

"Oh you are. But you're my only friend so I don't care. Whatever makes you happy."

A few minutes later she put everything away

"I'm done! Look at yourself in the mirror."

I stood up and stared back at myself. I smiled at my reflection. I felt pretty.

"Now you're just as beautiful as in the inside." Nalia grinned.

I turned around and hugged her. "For once, I feel happy and confident. Thank you."

"No problem, gal! Let's show everyone."

I stared back at myself and nodded.

I headed downstairs and saw Julian.

"God damn. Did Nalia throw up all over you?"

"Something like that." I laughed.

I saw Kyle who sat up when he saw me. He sighed. "I hope you didn't change for me."

I stopped walking. Excuse me? "Excuse me?"

"Come on, Emerald. I come and see you and you all of a sudden want to change your look?"

I crossed my arms. I could hear Nalia and Julian leave us in the room.

"No Kyle. That isn't it."

"Isn't it? Emerald, I don't want you to change to make me like you."

"Are you serious! You just randomly come into my life and think I'm completely in love with you that I'd be desperate enough to change for you! No, Kyle. This is for me. For me to feel good and comfortable with myself."

"Emerald. I-"

"I really don't want to hear what you have to say right now." I turned around and left the room. Not looking back.
