Vanessa and I finally got our daughter, Anika to sleep. For a three month old baby, she's basically an owl. Asleep all day but awake all night.
"Goodnight babe," I tiredly told Vanessa, bringing her into my arms as we finally laid in bed. "Goodnight."
3 AM

Anika's crying woke us up again. "Baby can you please get her?" Vanessa mumbled. "I got it," I said.

I stood up and walked to her room which was next to ours, and gently lifted her out of her crib. "You don't like when mommy and daddy sleep huh?" I asked, rocking her in my arms.

As soon as I held her she stopped crying. Her light eyes shimmered against the moonlight peering through her window as she let out a small yawn.

I lifted her up more and softly kissed her cheek. "Please go to sleep Anika," I begged, pacing around while softly bouncing her in my arms.

After a couple minutes, she finally closed her eyes. Just to be safe, I kept rocking her. "How it going?"

I turned at the quiet voice, seeing Vanessa leaning against the frame of the door. "Getting there," I quietly said back. She came to my side and leaned her head against my shoulder. I softly kissed her head and Anika's, before carefully setting Anika back in her crib.

"Thank you," Vanessa quietly whispered. I softly kissed her lips before we went back to bed.

Vanessa

I woke up again to Anika's crying. Chris was about to get up but I stopped him. "I got her," I said. He fell back onto his back as I walked to Anika's nursery.

"C'mon Anna, go to sleep," I said, picking her up. I cradled her in my arms and after a few seconds, she fell asleep. "Are you hungry? Is that it?" I asked, as she began crying again. "I think that's it," I concluded.

I made my way downstairs and into the kitchen, but Chris was already there. "I'm one step ahead of you," he smiled, handing me her small bottle with formula in it.

We walked back to her room, and I sat on the rocking chair while I began feeding her the bottle. Chris sat in the comfy chair but moved it directly next to the rocking chair.

"I feel like I haven't slept in days," Chris said. "I know, I do too," I agreed, leaning my head back to face him. He leaned down and pressed his lips against mine for a few seconds, before we pulled away. I kept my head on his shoulder and felt him press another kiss on my head, then one to Anika's head.

"You're an amazing father Chris," I mentioned. "And you're an amazing mother," he said back.

After a couple minutes, Anika finished her bottle and was still awake. "Come on Anika, you gotta get some sleep," Chris softly stroked her chubby cheeks. "Babe she gets this from you," he softly chuckled. "What do you mean?" I smiled.

"When we were younger you would keep me on the phone all night to talk to you," he explained. I just smiled and nodded my head at the memory. "It's okay, I still love you sometimes," he said. I playfully hit his chest, letting out a small laugh. "I'm joking, I love you," he assured. "I love you too," I said. "And we love you too Anna," I told her.

"Chris go to sleep, you have work in a few hours," I said. "I'll call in sick if it means I can be with my two favorite girls," he said.

Anika started crying again. I leaned my head against the chair and sighed out, before standing up and rocking her again. "What is it Anika?" I asked. "Come here Anna," Chris said, taking her from my arms.

As soon as he took her, she quieted down. "I'm convinced that she hates me," I sighed. "No she doesn't, I promise," Chris said. "Come on, let's just keep her with us for the night," he said, nudging his head back to our room.

I grabbed Anika's pacifier and followed Chris to our room. As he laid down, he laid Anika on top of his chest, leaving his hand against her back. "We should've done this earlier," I admit, while giving Anika the pacifier.

She immediately latched onto it and slowly closed her eyes. "Finally," I sighed, laying down.

I laid on my side with my hand on top of Chris', and my head on his shoulder. "You're a ladies man," I smiled. "I try not to brag," he whispered. I let out a soft laugh, before shutting my eyes.

And yes, we finally slept through the night.
