Vanessa

Christian would be here in half an hour and I was still struggling, with an overload of stress. I was ready with my clothes and makeup on but was nervous for what was to come.

"Nessa you look amazing," my sister Roni said, walking into my room. "Roni I'm nervous, really nervous," I said, shaking my hands.

"You'll be fine, you got this," she smiled, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Plus if anything, it's always his loss, never yours."

"Roni," I laughed at her comment. She always knew how to cheer me up, regardless of the situation. "Alright, have fun, I'm gonna go continue eating ice cream and being lonely!" She yelled behind herself as she walked down the hall.

I went to the mirror and took an overview of myself.

My long maroon colored dress fit perfectly, the shoulders staying off where they should be. My curled hair was in place with little to no fly away strands of hair, and my makeup was fine, matte lipstick popping against my lips.

Minutes passed and I slipped on my wedges, grabbed my purse and headed downstairs.

"Wow, you look beautiful," my mom spoke. "Thank you," I smiled a big smile. "You do look amazing Vanessa," my dad came from the living room. "Thank you dad," I said. He came over and hugged me shortly. "I can't believe you're already going on your first date," he said. "Dad," I let out a soft laugh. "I'm 16, I'll be fine."

I sat on the couch and stared at the clock as the time ticked away.

Christian

I had everything set. My hair was perfect and my shirt was straightened out, neatly matching with my pants. I put on my watch then grabbed my phone and wallet, then headed downstairs.

"Chris, be careful and have fun," my mom kissed my cheek. "I will mom, thank you."

We said our goodbyes and I walked out to my car, nervously getting in. Vanessa wasn't like any other girl. Today, she was mine. And if I mess this up, she's not. It's my lucky chance.

After a fairly short drive, I parked in front of her house, and stepped out of the car, holding a single white rose in my hand. "You got this." I said to myself, taking a deep breath.

I walked up the pathway and rang the doorbell, knowing everything that would happen at this point, would stay forever.

The door opened and revealed a man who I assume was her father. "You must be Christian, I'm Vanessa's father," he stuck out his hand. I shook his hand and hid my nerves. "Hello Mr. Merrell," I smiled. "Call me Paul," he chuckled.

From behind him I saw Vanessa come in view, and my breath was taken away. She looked amazing. "Hi Christian," she smiled. "Oh- uh- hey," I stuttered, putting my hand out to help her down the slight step.

"What time should I bring her home?" I asked Paul. "We'll settle on 10 for today. Take care of my daughter, Christian," he said. "I will, thank you."

I intertwined my fingers with Vanessa's as we walked back down the path. "You look gorgeous," I told her. "Thank you. You look great too," she smiled.

I handed her the rose. "This is for you." She took it and twirled it for a second or two, a smile spread along her face. "Thank you, it's really pretty," she said.

I stopped in front of my car and opened the passenger door for her, our hands connecting until she was seated properly.

After shutting the door, I jogged to the drivers side and sat in. "Are you ready?" He asked. "Mhm," she nodded, looking at me quickly.

I drove a distance until we arrived at Olive Garden, and exited the car. I joined my hand with hers again as we walked into the restaurant.

Luckily I had a reservation, allowing us to skip the massive line there was. We were taken to a small table, with two candles in the center.

"So, how's your day been?" I asked. "Amazing, how. How about yours?" She questioned. "I could say the same."

After a minute, a waiter arrived and handed us menus. "What are you going for?" She asked me. "Hands down, the steak. It's amazing here," I said. "I recommend it if you're willing to try it," I said. "I guess so," she agreed.

After we ordered and started waiting for our food, we continued on with our conversation.

"So you moved here from Missouri?" I asked. "Yeah, Kansas City. Have you always lived here?" She asked. "No actually, when I was eight we moved here, from Canada actually," I explained. "Oh wow, where in Canada?" She asked. "Calgary."

"So you're Canadian. Explains how you're so nice," she softly giggled. "I wouldn't say so, you and your sister of course, are some of the nicest people I've met. It's almost like you both are Canadian too," I chuckled.

Our food came and we still talked, getting to know each other a lot more. She's the one, I know it. I like her a lot, and I feel like she's perfect for me.
I just hope she feels the same.

Vanessa

After the delicious dinner, we quietly argued over who was paying until I gave in and allowed him to.

We left the restaurant in laughs and giggles, much more comfortable than we were earlier.

"Did you like your meal?" He asked me, once he started driving. "I did, thank you for everything," I genuinely said. "Don't thank me, I do my best for someone like you," he flashed a smile at me.

I looked out the window to hide the blush that I could feel on my cheeks. "You're too nice Christian," I said. "You can call me Chris if you want," he said, but quickly spoke again. "I mean you don't have to but if it's easier for you, then you can. Call me whatever you want actually, I do-" "Chris," I stopped him. "I'll call you Chris," I laughed.

"I'm sorry it's just.. you're making me nervous," he nervously chuckled. "You should have seen me before this, that was nervous," I said. He chuckled again, as a comfortable silence filled the next few minutes.

When we arrived back at my house, he walked me back to the door. And that's when my heart sped up again, even more than it had already.

"Thank you for tonight, I had a really nice time," I said, looking into his eyes. "Me too, hopefully we can have another night like this," he smiled. "Yeah," I smiled, biting my lip.

I looked down then looked back up at him, his eyes glistening in the porch light. His hand cupped the side of my face and before I knew it, we were both slowly leaning in.

As soon as his lips meet mine, I felt as though my heart would fall out of my chest. My body tingled and I felt things I never felt before, but it felt amazing.

We pulled apart, again starting into each other's eyes, small laughs escaping our mouths.

"Good night Vanessa," he said, lowering his hand. I twirled the flower in my hand with a smile. "Good night, Chris," I responded.

I walked inside while he walked back to his car. Shutting the door, I pressed my back against it, closed my eyes and smiled, gently biting my bottom lip.

"Nessa!" I heard Roni run down the stairs. "Tell me everything."
