Vanessa

"May I go to the bathroom?" I asked my teacher. "Be quick, the period is almost over."

I stood up and walked out of the room, going to the bathroom. As soon as I got there, I sighed and leaned my back against the wall, taking out my phone. I went to Snapchat and snapped Chris a picture of the pass in my hand, captioning it "I hate chemistry sm."

He responded underneath the desk of his class. "I hate school sm."

Then, a loud PSA went around.

"Attention, we are now in a hard lockdown. Please take proper action. We are in a hard lockdown. Please take proper action."

Christian

We all ran to the side of the room, keeping our heads out of window sight. My heart thumped fast thinking about Vanessa.

We all jolted at the sound of someone banging on the door. "Please let me in," she pleaded. It was Vanessa.

"Please!" She impatiently knocked again. My forensics teacher was beside me. "We have to let her in," I whispered. "She's a student," I added.
"Shh," she put a finger on her lips. "We can't let anybody in."

I looked on the slight crack under the door, seeing her footsteps drag her away.

Vanessa

Nobody was in the hallways. Every door in sight was shut and locked and I was the only one roaming the halls.

I felt tears brim my eyes as I walked helplessly. I cautiously looked down the hall before quietly slipping into the staircase.

That's when I started bawling. My hand covered my mouth as I ran back through the door.

I saw him- or her. The intruder, covered with a ski mask, making their way upstairs. Luckily, they didn't see me.

I ran down the hall in the opposite direction, until I crashed into a hard body.

I looked up and before I could even say anything I was cut off. "Shh."

I had run into a group of police officers, thankfully. "He- he's t-" I tried to talk but sobbing whilst whispering wasn't working.

"Did you see him?" The officer asked. I nodded my head. "Where?"

I pointed down the hall to the staircase I ran from.

"Stay with us. We've got you."

My hand remained over my mouth as an officer guided me to the middle of the group.

The one I ran into turned around, nudging his head to the opposite side of the hall, where half the officers went.

I was again guided to the middle of the now small group, following as they cautiously walked forward, holding their Glocks out.

"Freeze!"

Each officer froze, making me do the same.

"Put your hands up and drop the weapon."

From between officers, I saw him.

His piercing blue eyes showed through his ski mask, and his black leather clothing reflected the ceiling lights.

"Put down the weapon!"

The intruder squatted down and set whatever was in his hands down, putting his hands back up as he stood straight.

I saw the other group of officers appear behind him from the doors.

"Keep your hands up."

I stayed back while the officers approached him and roughly pinned him against the wall, putting him in handcuffs.

His mask was pulled off and he was in no way familiar to me.

"Bad things happen to guys like you," one officer said to him.

"Search the building. Main intruder has been found and cought." An officer spoke into a walkie talkie.

"Someone get the girl out," an officer muttered.

Two or three officers came to me and led me outside in front of the school, taking out notepads.

"Can I have your full name, date of birth and age," an officer asked. "Vanessa Jo Merrell. August 6.."

They finally finished questioning me and I was able to calm down. They stood with me until everything was clear. By now a period had passed.

"You're okay, nobody's been harmed inside the school." The officer told me. I nodded my head.

"We'll stay with you until all the students come out, just for caution."

I nodded my head. "Thank you," I managed to say.

Christian

I ran out of the door and down the stairs, making my way outside of the school as quick as I could.

I blindly looked around, panting in search of Vanessa. Students filed out of the school and I knew it would only get harder to find her.

Running down the block, a small group of cops stood next to a student that I easily recognized as Vanessa.

I caught her attention as I ran down the street, crashing my body against hers.

"Are you okay?" I asked, hugging her tight. I felt her nod her head into my neck, as she hugged me back just as tight.

"You guys can get your things from the school if you have anything," an officer said, forcing us apart.

"Okay, thank you so much," I said, not able to express my gratitude.

It was the last day of school- what a way to end it. Since it was the last day, we had no books or bags. Nothing at school.

Completely ditching anyone else, I took Vanessa's hand and led her to my car.

"I love you so much," I said, hugging her again. "I was so scared," she cried. "It's okay," I softly said. "Did anything happen to you?" I asked. "No, I just ran," she said.

I gently wiped her cheeks and smiled in relief, before passionately pressing my lips to hers.

"I love you," she said. I gently kissed her again. "I love you too."
