Vanessa's POV

Chris had just went out to get a few groceries, and I finally just put Anika down for a nap.

Grabbing the camera, I left her room quietly, wanting to continue the vlog.

"Anyway, I wanted to show you guys my 'lazy day' makeup routine," I smiled.

"I already moisturized, so I'm gonna go ahead and start with concealer," I said, dabbing some onto my face.

Within the next twenty minutes, I was done.

"And yeah, that's it," I smiled, looking in the mirror.

Just as I did, I heard soft cries from Anika's baby monitor.

I stopped the camera and went to her room, gently lifting her out of her crib.

"Hi baby, what's wrong?" I softly asked, bouncing her softly to try and calm her.

When that didn't work, I reached for her pacifier.

"This?" I asked. I put it near her mouth, but she turned her head and continued crying.

"Shh, it's okay," I rubbed her back.

Within the next ten minutes, I tried everything. She wasn't hungry, didn't need to be changed, didn't wanna play. I was out of ideas.

"What's wrong, Anika?" I sighed. "Dada," she cried, flailing her arms.

"He's on his way, my love," I softly kissed her head. "Dada," she repeated.

I put Anika in one arm and continued shaking her softly, using my phone to FaceTime Chris.

"What's up- whys she crying?" He asked. He was in the car, thankfully, so he was on his way home.

"She wants you, Ive tried everything, babe, she won't stop," I said.

"Okay, I'm like two minutes away. I'll be there soon," he said. "Okay," I nodded.

As the call ended, I turned my full attention back to Anika.

"Please stop crying," I said, before I lightened up with an idea.

I sat on the couch, putting her on my lap to face me.

"Here," I held up my necklace. She grabbed it for a few seconds, sniffing as she calmed down. For some reason, she loved playing with that.

Just when I thought she stopped, she dropped my necklace and leaned her head on my chest, continuing to wail.

"Dada," she whined. "I know, he's on his way, I promise," I said, rubbing her back.

Just when I did, I heard the front door open. Standing up with Anika, I watched Chris walk into the house, speed walking towards us.

"Dada," Anika stretched her arms out, looking at Chris.

"I'm here, Princess. I'm here my love," he softly said, taking her out of my grip.

She immediately quieted down, but remained softly crying.

"What happened?" He asked, holding her softly as he swayed. "I don't know," I shrugged.

"She woke up from a nap and just wouldn't stop crying and asking for you," I said.

He took my hand and brought me to the couch, sitting beside me. Anika easily quieted down, laying her head on his

I put my hand next to Anika's, letting her play with my fingers.

"She loves me more," Chris smiled. "She does not," I shook my head.

"Anika, who do you love more, mommy or dada?" Chris looked down. Anika has a sly smile plastered on her lips, as she eyed both Chris and me.

"Mama," she said. "Ha! I told you," I smiled, as Chris gasped in shock.

"Come here my love," I said, putting my arms out. "No!" She turned her head, latching onto Chris' shirt.

I gasped the same way Chris did, making him laugh.

"What is this?" I asked, tickling her sides and earning a laugh from her.

I smiled and relaxed again.

"I love you," I kissed her head. "I love you too," I looked at Chris, pecking his lips.

After a few minutes, we started watching TV, enjoying the calm environment.

"Oh- babe I wanted to vlog something fun," Chris said. As I looked up, he already had a smile on his lips.

"You know the old mattress we have? We can put it on the stairs and slide down," he explained. "Are you serious?" I smiled. He nodded.

"Let's do it," I nodded. "Here. Let me get the groceries and the mattress," he said, handing over Anika.

"No! Dada!" Anika whined. "Shh, I'll be back okay? No crying," he kissed her softly.

As Chris left to do that, Anika stared at me with a blank expression.

"Why don't you love me?" I asked.

A smirk formed on her lips, making me let out a laugh. "I love you so much," I hugged her gently.

"Mama," she called. "Hmm?" I pulled away. Her small hand reached forward, gently grabbing the chain to my necklace.

"Now you want it? Okay."

"You go first, I'll vlog it," I said, picking up the camera. "Let me take Anna with me," he said. "No," I shook my head.

"She won't get hurt. I'm gonna be holding her," he said. "Chris-" "Trust me," he tilted his head.

I sighed, reluctantly letting him take her from my grip.

I went downstairs and started the camera, as Chris sat on the mattress with Anna in his lap.

"Are you ready?" He asked. "Yeah," I smiled, pointing the camera.

He put his arm around Anika, acting as a seatbelt, and used the other to hold onto the mattress. Pushing forward, within seconds, they came flying down the stairs.

"Woah!" We all laughed. Anika had a smile on her face, and she soon began to laugh, too.

"Wait, I wanna try!" I excitedly spoke. "Let me bring it back up," Chris laughed, letting me hold Anika again.

We switched places, but I made Chris hold Anna, I didn't want her to get hurt.

"Wait im scared!" I looked down at them. "Just slide forward, it's not bad," he said.

I waited a few seconds, before doing so. When I didn't even expect it, the mattress went flying down the stairs, making me let out a quick shriek.

"No! Mama!" Anna cried. "It's okay, mamas okay," Chris quickly said. I laid against the mattress, smiling as I caught my breath.

"I'm okay," I smiled at Anna, as Chris gave her to me. She laid her head on my chest, wrapping her arms around me.

"Aw, my love, I'm okay," I said, noticing her still crying.

After calming her down, she was clinging to me this time, rather than Chris.

"I think I have an idea," Chris said, holding up the camera. "Oh God," I sarcastically said, as he pulled me to my feet. "Should we get.." he looked at Anika.

"Ice cream?"

The second the words left his mouth, her eyes widened and she smiled big. "Ya!" She put her hand in the air, nodding quickly.

"Yeah, I think so too," Chris smiled.
