I was up late trying to get Vanessa to talk to me, but she ignored all my calls and left me on read on every message I've sent.
Just as I was about to fall asleep, I jolted up at the sound of my phone vibrating.
Vanessa
Are you awakeI called her immediately, not wanting to text.
"Hi," she softly said. "I'm sorry," I couldn't think of anything else to say.
"Can you come over? I wanna talk to you," she said. I could still hear the hurt in her voice.
"Y-yeah, I'm coming," I said. "Just text me when you're here. My parents are asleep," she said.
"Okay."
Hanging up, I jumped out of bed and threw on a random shirt, sneaking out of the house.
I drove fairly fast to her house, stopping across the street, and running to her front door.
Just when I got there, the door opened, Roni standing behind it. "She's in her room, be quiet," she said. I nodded, smiling. Roni definitely talked to her about it.
I softly knocked on Vanessa's bedroom door, before walking in.
She looked up at me, with sadness still visible in her eyes.
"I'm sorry," I said, sitting at the edge of her bed. "What happened?" She asked.
I tilted my head. "What made you guys start the bet?" She clarified. I sighed, running my hands through my hair.
"I kept telling them that I thought you were pretty and how I was crushing on you, so they said that if I couldn't make you fall in love with me by the end of spring break, I wouldn't have a chance at all," I said.
She didn't say anything. "I know, it's lame and stupid-" "So why did you do it?" She asked. "Because I wanted to prove them wrong. But when I realized how sweet and sensitive you were, I called it off because I knew- I knew this would happen," I said.
She came closer to me on her bed, leaning her head on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry, babe," I said, kissing the top of her head. "Please forgive me," I added.
"I will," she nodded against my shoulder. "Not now, but I will," she sniffed, looking up at me.
I couldn't help but stare at her lips, wanting to kiss her.
"Can I please kiss you?" I softly asked. She leaned forward, making me do the same, until our lips gently brushed against each other.
"I love you, Nessa. I'm so sorry," I repeated. "Promise me you're not lying about any of this?" She looked at me.
"I prom- I swear," I said. She nodded her head. "Okay," she said.
"If I text you in the morning, take it as a good sign," she said. I smiled, nodding my head.
I stood up with her, as she walked downstairs with me. Quietly opening the front door, I pulled her into a soft hug.
"Drive safely," she said. "I will. Goodnight," I kissed her head. "Goodnight."
