Hi my friendssss!!
I've been doing quite a bit of traveling and got to go on a historic adventure. I thought I'd share some of my experiences in Philadelphia- the first capitol of the United States, New York, and Weehawken- the site of Hamilton and Burr's duel!
My best friends, who are also history majors, and I took a road trip and first settled in Philadelphia. My obvious favorite site there was Independence Hall, the building where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written!
My other favorites there was the Liberty Bell, the Graff House which was the home Jefferson rented while writing the Declaration, the first Continental Congress and the first Supreme Court buildings!
Here's some pictures!!
Independence Hall:
This particular table I took a picture of is believed to be where Jefferson sat to write the Declaration and where Madison sat roughly ten years later to write the Constitution.
The historians are unsure exactly where the framers sat although they do know they sat by state and guess they went by the North and South divide- Southern on the right and Northern on the left.
Also: for any fans of the musical 1776, this is where the actors in the movie filmed the song "But Mr. Adams"
The Liberty Bell:
The Graff House: (My racist son's home)
(It's the itty bitty one next to the taller structure)
The First Supreme Court:
The First Congress: (specifically depicted is the Senate)
The Congress, Court, and Independence Hall are set up a lot like the Capitol building in DC. They're all connected with the Congress and Court as smaller buildings on each side of Independence Hall.
I go into further detail in my book "Everything Wrong with Hamilton" if you wanna check it out. We went to the first two national banks, checked out portrait galleries, and more!
At Weehawken we checked out Hamilton's dueling grounds:
(The shittiest picture known to man... sorry!)
And lastly, we checked out NYC! But all my pictures are really shitty and I'm not even going to waste your time showing you them. Anyway, expect more updates soon!
Lots of love
Xx
