I stayed with Marley all night. She ran to the bathroom a few times to throw up. I kneeled beside her to hold back her hair so she wouldn’t get vomit all over it.
She woke early the next morning, confuse about why she was in my room. She sat up in a hurry, but then lay back down when she realise all of the drinking she did last night had caught up with her with a nasty hangover.
“What happened last night?” she asked me.
“Do you really want to know?”
“No.” She covered her face with hands to block out the sun that was sweeping through my half open blinds.
I stood up and closed the blinds for her.
“Thanks.”
I turned to Marley. “Come on. Get up and get ready for school.”
“I’m not going today. My head hurts.”
“Well you should have thought about that before you got drunk.”
I pulled back her covers back. She didn’t like it and tried to push me away. But I didn’t listen to her.
“Come on. Get up, take a shower and we can get going.”
“No.”
I grabbed her arm and pulled her up.
“What are you doing?” she tried to push me away but I was stronger than her. “Are you deaf? Let go of me, you bastard!”
Marley kicked me hard in the stomach. I ignored the pain and just grabbed her, throwing her over my shoulder. She screamed and punched me hard in the back, demanding that I put her down. I didn’t listen to her and walked out of my room, heading to the bathroom. I closed the door and set Marley down in the shower. I switched on the cold water full blast. She screamed at the top of her lungs as the cold water hit her. I shivered a little as the water hit me. Marley started hitting me hard in the chest, saying how much she hated me and doesn’t want me to do it again.
She calmed down and stared at me. The feelings I felt last night after Marley had kissed me appeared inside of me. I wasn’t sure if she felt anything either, but her eyes never once left me. We were both freezing from the water, but neither of us did anything about it. We just stood there in the cold.
Before I could stop myself, I leaned over and pressed my lips over hers. Surprising she went along with the kiss. I kissed her hard, pushing her up against the tile wall. Marley tugged onto my hair while I slipped a hand under her wet dress that she still had on from last night. I slid it up her side, resting my hand on her hip. I left it there for a few seconds before removing it and placed it on her shoulder. I moved my lips down to her neck, sucking on her skin.
“Noah, stop please.” She pushed me off her.
I stared at her, feeling a shame to what I had done. I had never made a move on anyone who was part of my assignment before.
“I’m so sorry,” I apologised to her.
I quickly climbed out of the shower and walked out of the bathroom. I leaned my back against the door, running my hands through my hair. Why am I feeling like this towards Marley?
I headed to my room to get change out of my wet clothes. Chloe was in there, getting changed. I closed the door.
“What was all the screaming about?” Chloe asked as she button up her white blouse.
“I turned on the cold water in the shower,” I explained. I walked over to the chest of drawers and pulled out a pair of jeans and then walked over to my wardrobe to select a shirt.
