I thought that she would be happy. She wasn't. She went on an on and on about how she shouldn't have chosen me and that she wishes I wasn't too old to send back. She never brought that up. Ever. My real mom died when I was six from cancer. My father left my mom when I was born, leaving her alone to take care of lil old me. I remember the last words my birth mom said to me.
"Mommy? Why does it hurt to breath?"
"Because mommy is sick, baby."
"How come god made you sick, Mommy?"
"Because sometimes God thinks he made a mistake!"
"But you aren't a mistake mommy! I love you!"
"You are going to... have to go to a new mommy, baby girl!"
"But I want you to be my mommy!"
"Oh, but I can't be here for you. It hurts me to be here. I'll see you in heaven someday!"
"How am I supposed to find you in heaven mommy?"
She handed me a necklace with half of a blue crystal heart. She had the other half and was buried with it. My heart broke when my adopted mom said that to me. I reached up and rubbed my necklace. Tears started to fill my eyes.
"Get your stuff. Now. I don't want to see you again." She said. I ran past her, tears blurring my vision. I shoved my clothes and other belongings into some bags, and called Corbyn. He came as fast as he could, and when he arrived, I looked back at my mom. Her stare was icy and she mouthed the words
"I wish you had cancer too"
