The next morning was Alex's first day of preschool. I dressed him in his favorite green dinosaur shirt and some black and green plaid shorts. He wore his boots because it was raining. I put him in his car seat and drove him to the elementary school that also had a preschool in it. I told the teacher that he is allergic to peanuts and bee stings, so be careful with that. I gave him one last hug and drove off. Once home, I opened my laptop and started searching for jobs. Again. Even though we have enough money for basic living from Corbyns fame income, I just want some money on the side so we can save for Alex's college. I love animals, so I can apply at the pet store down the road. I fill out the application and just as I send it in, I hear the phone ring. I walk over to it and pick it up.
Me: "hello?"
Daycare worker: "you need to come quickly. Alex is in the ambulance and he keeps screaming for you. We need you to be at Mercy Hospital as soon as you can!"
I almost stopped breathing. I dropped the phone and it shattered into a hundred pieces. I grabbed my keys and screamed Corbyns name while running out the door. He can sliding down the hallway, his feet in nothing but fuzzy socks. He put on his shoes and we both ran out into the driveway, getting into the car.
