*the next stop will be Falmer*

I pause the music playing from my phone, Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran, and pull my earphones out to hear the overhead speakers announce my stop. I look out of the window to see my new home for the next 3 years, Brighton university, I have been waiting my whole life to study a music course here because I have heard a lot of good things about it and my parents both studied here. I stood up and wheeled my suitcase and carried my guitar down the carriage before pressing the button to open the train doors, as I step out the smell of the fresh sea air hits me and a smile spreads across my face. This is another reason why I have always wanted to study here, I have always lived in London which as you probably know has a very high population and isn't known for being clean or pollution free, but here I am near the beach and I fell in love with the beach when I was a little girl.

It's just something about the beach. The way the waves crash on to the sand, the feeling of the sand between my toes, the sound of little children playing, the wind flowing through my long blonde hair. This list could go on. But I think the thing I love the most about the beach is the calm atmosphere it brings, I could stand on the beach for hours on end just taking in my surroundings and having time to think about everything, it just seems to calm me but as I have been living in London all my life I haven't really had the opportunity to go to a beach whenever I like.

Once I had stepped off of the train I walked off of the platform and down the road before following all of the street signs that would lead me to my campus, Falmer campus. I looked around me to see many groups of university students all sitting around having a laugh, they all look so happy with their lives, that is the position I want to be in. Eventually I reached my campus and walked over to the reception desk to ask where my dorm room is, they gave me a key and told me to walk down the corridor until I reach some stairs, once I reach the stairs I need to go up 4 floors and look for room 223. I thanked the woman at reception and started to walk down the corridor and up the stairs with difficulty as I still have my suitcase with me and my guitar, which are both very heavy may I add.

I reached the 4th floor and wheeled my suitcase along the long corridor, not paying any attention to my surroundings I started to look for room 223. "101, 102, 103... Ouch!" I mumbled as I walked into someone. "I am so sorry!" The girl said as she helped me pick up my suitcase and guitar, I let out a little smile before looking at her. This girl had lovely long brown hair that sat just below her shoulders and blue eyes that seemed to sparkle in the reflection of the light, she is wearing some makeup too, eyeliner and foundation, but I don't think she really needs it as she is the type of girl who just looks beautiful naturally. I don't wear makeup as I have never really had an interest in it, this does make me look a lot younger than my age but I have learnt to live with it, not everyone needs to be caked in makeup. She gave me a welcoming smile before she passed me my suitcase and held out her hand. "Hi, I'm Rachel." She stated, I smiled nervously and shook her hand, feeling a bit nervous as she seemed to be taller than me. I'm only 5'3 and she looks about 5'6. "Hey, I'm Hayley. I'm sorry for walking into you, I wasn't looking where I was going." I replied and she smiled in return. "It's ok, it's my first day here too. It can seem a bit daunting coming here for the first time, I guess I'm just used to it because my brother came here before me." Rachel explained and I nodded in reply. "What room are you in?" She questioned. "223." I replied and the biggest smile I have ever seen spread across her face, I gave her a confused expression and she let out a happy giggle. "That's my room!" She exclaimed and a smile spread across my face, at least I'm not sharing my room with a complete weirdo. "Would you mind showing me where it is? I am really lost." I asked and she nodded. "Well for starters you are on the wrong floor, it's on the 4th floor not the 3rd." She replied and let out a little giggle, I must have only gone up 3 sets of stairs but thought it was 4 because I was so out of breath.
