Star walked on the side walk with her hood up and music down low so she could be aware of her surroundings.
Jamie tagged along slowly keeping a safe distance so she would not see him. He hid in small alleys, behind cars, and mail boxes along the way.
Many passerby were wondering what he was doing, and by the way he looked, they assumed he was up to nothing good.
Star, half way home, felt like she was being watched. She glanced back behind her shoulder and saw no one. She quickened her speed and stopped her music so she can be completely aware.
She made her way to the alley she had to turn off of to get to her home. She lived in a very small apartment in the alley way.
Jamie slowly followed behind.
Star made her way to the middle of the alley, looked behind her shoulder again, and climbed through a window. This action confused Jamie.
It was now really dark and raining.
Jamie sighed and looked to the sky," Great timing," he whispered quietly so no one could hear.
He crept to the window Star went in through and looked in.
He saw a small woman sitting on a old tore up couch in what looked like a living room smoking a cigarette.
She was watching TV. Jamie figured that was Star's mother.
Star walked into the room at that point and said something. Jamie could not hear anything because of the patter of the rain hitting buildings and to ground.
She stood beside the couch her mother was sitting in and they spoke to one another. It looked to Jamie that the woman was really upset about something.
The woman stood up. She was very off balace and looked like she was going to fall. It looked to Jamie that she was drunk.
She was yelling and spiting in Star's face. Then, she smacked Star across the face.
Jamie's heart started beating faster. A sence of rage fled through his body. He wanted more then anything to climb through the window and comfort Star,and confront the woman, but he waited.
The woman yelled more, and to what felt like forever to Jamie, Star too, she stopped and fell down hard on the couch proceeding to watch TV.
Star ran back into a room. Jamie guessed that it was her room.
