Chapter 28

Andy felt terrible for Star. He had had a rough life too, but he always had his parents there to pick him up. She did not. She had no father, and her mother was just a drunk. She did not have any friend either, well besides Jamie, but look at where he is now. Not with her. He just left her like that. Andy thought that was horrible. Jamie should have never done such a thing like that, he though. especially if it is a place that neither of them know and are that far away from home without a ride. That is irresponsable. 

When Andy had finished wiping off all the make-up on her face, he sat back and looked at her.

"Star, does Jamie know all of this that you have told me about?" he asked.

Star sniffed again and looked at him," No all of it. Some. Probably not even half."

Andy nodded and thought again," Did he know about.... you know.... your arms?"

Star looked away and nodded," He did. He helped me stop for a little while, but then I started hidding them better........."

Andy cocked his head to the side in confusion," What do you mean?"

"I... you don't have to worry about it, Andy I'm fine," Star said looking back at him smiling softly.

"He sighed slightly. He knew this was a delicate subject. Most people that go through this stuff, he guessed, probably did not really like talking about it, or did not know how to. He decided this would be a good time to change the subject.

"So.. how long have you known Jamie?" he asked.

"Umm, a little over 2 or 3 months," Star replied.

Andy nodded," And you trust him?"

Star thought for a second," Yeah... I did."

Andy caught the way she said "did". He guessed that Jamie really hurt her leaving her like that at the concert. Andy did not know exactly what was said between the two, but he knew what the subject of the fight was. It still did not give him a reason to act that way, in Andy's opinion.

They were both silent for a while, then Andy had a thought," Star, why have you told me all of this?"

She looked up at him," Because I feel like I can." 

She said that so simply. 

"Is there any certain reason why?" he asked.

Star thought," Your music. All the things that you stand for. What you've went through as kid. Your my hero Andy." She said this smiling at him with a tear in her eye.

Andy was flattered. He hugged her tight.

"And now I'm a friend. I will always be here to listen, Star. Always," he promised.

Let us just hope that Andy will keep this promise. We all know that Jamie failed to.
