“Welcome back to the final!” The announcer shouted eagerly into his microphone. “Despite the interruption, we are now ready to continue!”

Me and Toby both walked towards our respective places on the battlefield. We were both determined to win, and despite our friendship, we would use all our power to do it.

I took a moment to look around the stadium stands, stopping to see the familiar faces. As promised, Sarah Taylor was in the stands, next to her sister; Olivia. Headmaster Rowan took the centre seat, sitting next to Professor Cheren and the numerous other professors at the Academy. Kyle and Owen were sat next to each other in the left-wing stands, while Toby’s first round opponent, Lyra, was sat in the right-wing stadium stands.

“The Graduation Final… I’ve come so far. Toby…I won’t lose this!” I thought silently.

“Sam…you’ve taught me everything I’ve ever needed to know about Pokémon battles. I thank you for that…But this is one battle I just won’t lose! Fate has put me against you, and it’s time I finally prevailed against you! You’re going down, Sam!” Toby also silently thought, determined as ever to win his final battle in the Academy.

“This is going to be one heck of a final.” Professor Cheren acknowledged.

“Indeed. This battle may go down in the Academy History books one day.” Headmaster Rowan replied.

“Sir, I must ask you something…” Professor Jones asked. “What about the Light Orb? Should we not be searching for that?”

“Do not worry, my friend.” Headmaster Rowan replied calmly. “I have sent out a team of experts to track that man. I do not know their chances of success, but all we can do is hope they will return with the Orb.”

Professor Jones simply nodded his head in approval, and turned around to face the battle before him once again.

“Trainers!” the Referee announced. “We shall now flip a coin to choose who will have the first move.”

“‘Tails never fails’, as they say.” Toby smirked.

“Very well.” The Referee said, flipping the coin high into the air. As the coin hung in the air for what seemed like a millennia, I immediately relayed through an array of different plans, ideas, and strategies that could help my in the battle. Finally, as the coin descended, I knew exactly what I had to do for this battle…

“The coin reads ‘Tails’! Toby Grazier will get the first move!”

“Haha, I told you!” Toby chuckled, before becoming deadly serious and bringing out his two Pokémon. “Go, Treeko and Victini! Let’s finish what we started!”

“Crap! He’s not wasting time, is he?” I smirked, bringing out my two Pokémon also.

All four Pokémon were simultaneously released, placing themselves next to their trainers like prized trophies – showing off their pride that they belonged to the best.

“Sam, you’re in for a real treat now!” Toby said in a patronising manner. “Let’s show them that killer combo we worked on!”

Treeko nodded, and charged up an Energy Ball in its mouth. As Treeko did this, Victini began to charge up a powerful V-Create attack. Whatever Toby had planned, it was going to be powerful, and it was going to be painful…

“Now, Treeko!” Toby commanded, prompting his Treeko to run forward and release an Energy Ball from its mouth. Somewhat unexpectedly, Victini suddenly used released the fiery burst of the V-Create on the Energy Ball! The power of the attack sent the Energy Ball hurtling at blinding speeds towards Totodile, and in addition with the power boost from the V-Create, caused a huge explosion that sent Totodile high into the air. As Totodile scrambled to regain control of himself, Victini grabbed hold of Treeko, and used its tremendous strength to fling the grass-type Pokémon up towards Totodile. As Treeko flew up towards the sky, it charged up yet another Energy Ball move in its mouth – the green energy swirling into the shape of a sphere.
