"Sam," Alex mumbles in her sleep beside me. She rolls over and rests her head on my shoulder in her sleep. This is the closest I've been to her in weeks, she rarely touches me when she's awake but she refuses to sleep without me sitting on her bed or at least in the room.
Alex is still in the infirmary three weeks after the incident. Cade and his accomplice are still in the dungeons and I have people working with them to get answers. Ash's hands are slowly recovering and Damien got released from the hospital a week ago and is still recovering very slowly, but recovering nonetheless.
It's been quiet around the pack house, everyone is worried about their Luna. They all know she is here but no one has seen her because she hasn't had the courage to leave the room yet. She has made a lot of progress in the last few weeks, she is speaking to me in full sentences as well as the doctor and she can touch me occasionally but it's very rare.
Alex's parents visit every day, at first, they were angry and wanted to force her to go to a proper hospital but I promised them that she was being well cared for and they eventually left it alone. At first only her father was coming for visits and she would talk to him even though she was talking to no one else, which I admit was a punch in the gut, but she got around to finally talking to me eventually.
Alex's legs kick in the bed beside me and I look down at her face which always manages to take my breath away. Her eyes are fluttering and her brows are furrowed. She has nightmares almost every night, hence why I stay with her.
"Sam!" she screams thrashing her arms around wildly.
I quickly grab her arms to restrain her and lightly shake her so not to hold her too tight. The first time this happened I freaked out so much that I gripped her so tightly she woke up terrified of me but after weeks of this I've discovered how to wake her up without frightening her to death.
I lean in close to her and wrap my arms around her gently, I duck my head into her neck and whisper in her ear.
"Alex, baby, it's just a dream."
She never wakes up the first time. I kiss her gently on her neck and move my lips back up to her ear. "Alex," I say a little louder.
This time she wakes up. She stares at me for a few seconds frightened and I wait for her to move away from me, I loosen my grip in anticipation for her to move but she doesn't move. I can see the panic slipping from her eyes and she keeps her eyes on mine.
I take full advantage of her not moving away and wrap my arms back around her. "It was just a dream baby," I whisper gently not slipping eye contact.
Then she does the most unexpected thing, she snuggles into my neck and places a kiss on my warm flesh. Her lips are soft and warm on my neck, oh how I missed her beautiful lips. I don't move I just remain as still as possible. She isn't kissing my neck anymore but I can feel her lips still touching my neck, they are as soft as a petal on my rough skin. I can feel her slight breathes on my skin that tickles me slightly. Then she begins to move again, her lips never leaving my skin. She begins to travel up my neck to my jaw before releasing her lips from my skin. I see her hand approaching my face and she gently places it on my jaw and begins to trace my skin. She runs her slender fingers along my jaw then up over my eye lids and I shut them in response before she runs it down the bridge of my nose but the part she touches that surprises me the most is when she runs her fingertips over my lips. I open my eyes in shock and let my lips part lightly. She looks up into my eyes and that's when I do what I've been dying to do for weeks.
I kiss her.
Her lips are soft and full and pure. The same sparks that were always there remain if anything they are crazier than usual and my lips burn upon hers. I expect her to pull away quickly and hide in a corner but what surprises me the most is that she kisses me back. Her lips slowly move along with mine, I can feel her hands move up to cup my face and I move my hands down to her hips and cradle them in my hands before slipping them just under her shirt to feel her warmth. She continues to kiss me and I don't try anything, I continue to kiss her back until eventually, she pulls away.
