I can hear rustling around me and what I think is talking but nothing is clear. I can't open my eyes yet but I think the voices are getting clearer. I hear what I think is a lady talking,
"She is going to be fine" her voice sounds frustrated
"Are you sure?" The next voice I hear is definitely Sam and that is what brings me back from this state. I open my eyes but the light is too bright so I shut them again.
"Turn the lights down" Sam says and I hear some feet rustling, "You can open your eyes now baby."
I open them a little and see that there are no blinding lights in my vision so I continue to open them until they are fully open. I see white walls and ceiling around me. I am lying down in a really uncomfortable bed; I try to sit up but am restrained by an IV coming out of my arm. Someone puts their hands on my shoulders and pushes me back down. I look up and see Sam standing there next to me.
"You have to stay down on the bed" He looks so worried about me but he looks happy at the same time and its confusing me immensely.
"Where am I? What happened?" I say panicking a little
"Shh it's ok. You're in the hospital you passed out but you didn't injure yourself or anything so I think you're going to be fine" He soothes and it makes me feel better
"How long have I been in here?" I ask confused. What even happened?
"Alex, you have been in here for a week" He says sadly. Before I can answer him I see the doctor walk up to talk to me or us I suppose.
"So Alex it seems you have fainted from what we seem to think is stress related as I have talked to all of your family and friends that have been in contact with you over the last month. With you finding out about Sam and our secret and then moving with him and having trouble with your mum and Maya and Sam's mum, it has all just been too much for you. After you fainted you went into a coma like state and we didn't know if you were coming back or not but it seems you have made a miraculous recovery. So I recommend you stay away from anything that could stress you out anymore and you have to stop stressing about things ok?" She smiles down at me after saying this and then I nod in response.
"Can I get rid of this thing?" I point down at the IV that's still attached to my arm. She chuckles and comes around to remove it.
"You should be ok without it but if you start to feel dizzy or just suddenly get tired press this button" she says pointing behind me at a red button that says 'Emergency' "and I will come back in here and connect it back up"
"Ok thank you" she smiles before leaving. I look over at Sam to see the tears pooling in the bottom of his eyes
"I thought I had lost you" I single tear rolls down his cheek and I reach over to wipe it away and cup his cheeks so I can look directly in his eyes.
"I'm still here, right here with you"
"Yeah but even the thought of losing you kills me" He says reaching his hands up and wraps them around me. The tears start pooling in my own eyes
"Will you lie with me?" I say but my voice is croaky from holding in the tears.
"Always" He climbs onto my bed and we barely fit with me lying half on top of him but I don't care as long as I have him here with me.
"Alex I-"He takes a deep breath preparing himself for what he has to say next, "I love you Alex" All the air in my lungs is sucked out and I don't talk for several moments and it only really registers in my head when he turns his head the other direction. I grab his face and pull it around planting my lips on his. He brings his hands up to cup my own face entwining his fingers in my hair. He doesn't deepen the kiss just letting it stay sweet. We finally pull apart and I say the words he has been waiting for me to say,
