I run to her side quickly and grab her hand that was just sizzling on the bars of the cell, at first, she resists me looking at her hand but she knows I'm stronger than her and allows me to have a look. The skin is slightly red but is not burnt at all. It has already healed. I look away from her letting her hand fall back to her lap, my mind races with the many possibilities of how this has happened. Alex isn't a wolf, that's not possible we would have known by now.
I feel her small hand reach out and pull my face back around to her own so she can look into my eyes with her own. Her eyes are soft and gentle and they instantly make me feel better but I'm still immensely confused about the situation before us. I wrap my hands around her waist and hoist her back up onto her feet and she gasps at the sudden movement.
I open my mouth a few times contemplating what to say next but she beats me to it, "Say something please Sam," her soft voice speaks aloud. I continue to not speak from the shock of what I've just witnessed and I can see the worry and stress in her eyes from me being mute.
I take a deep breath, "So, you're a wolf?" I ask her not believing what I am saying. How could she be a wolf, it's not possible.
"I don't know what I am, the pack doctor had suspicions but I don't know Sam," she whispers quietly grabbing my hand in her own. I look down at her small hand entwined with my large one and squeeze her hand tighter to give her some reassurance.
I step forward and wrap her in my arms and she relaxes into my leaving a kiss on my chest, "Let's go talk to the doc then, maybe he has done some research into this and figured something out," I mumble into her hair.
She nods before stepping back from me and we both begin ascending the stairs back up into the pack house. We head through to the doctor's quarters of the house and arrive at his door. Alex knocks politely on the large wooden door before us and I smile at her politeness. We hear an incoherent mumble from the other side of the door but we take it as a 'come in' and open the door to enter.
I see the small older man sitting on the chair behind his desk, he sees me and begins to rise but I gesture for him to sit back down and take a seat in the chair placed in front of his desk, Alex sits next to me in a similar wooden chair.
The salt and pepper haired man smiles at us, "so what brings you here alpha?" he asks kindly.
I look over to Alex before looking back at him, "Alex and I uncovered something peculiar this afternoon and Alex has informed me that you might have already known about this and we want to know what's going on. Well, I want to know what is going on." I proceeded to tell him about what happened in the basement with Alex's hand.
"I see your problem, and yes I did have suspicions about this but I didn't want to bring it up in case I was completely incorrect and there was nothing wrong," the doctor replies.
"is this possible?" I say leaning forward in anticipation for his answer.
"Well," he says, "I've never seen anything like this before. She doesn't remember changing which is usually how the transition works but her injuries are healing abnormally fast and she seems to be affected by silver as are we. I really don't know how this could have happened because she's too old to begin the transition now."
Alex butts in next, "so this has never happened before then?"
We both shake our heads at her.
"So basically, there is something wrong with me? I'm like some sort of anomaly?" she asks us both again.
"There is nothing wrong with you," I exclaim getting slightly defensive, "there must be someone else who has seen something like this before?" I question turning to the doctor.
