Chapter Five: Ruby

(The sentence in bold at the end is being though by both Ruby and Ace.)

Stupid Destiny. Stupid Dylan. Stupid Trevor. Stupid Pierce. Telling me to meet this stupid kid. Dragging me through half the school trying to find him. Then just leaving me to find my classes. This guy better be fucking worth it. They said I would meet him at lunch.

"Ms. Aldredge! Are you listening?" I looked up to see Mrs. Gustofson glaring at me with her yellow eyes. Her tail twitched and her horns grew pointier. No, Mrs. Gustofson doesn't look like a demon exactly, but she does have yellow eyes. I'm going to guess from smoking.

"Yes, Mrs. Gustofson, I am listening."

"Then you'll have no problem translating the sentence on the board into English."

I watched the words less for less than a few seconds and said, "Mi gatito ha sido comido por un cocodrilo, por favor, ayúdame in Spanish. My kitten has been eaten by a crocodile, please help me in English."

Why? Why did she make that the sentence? That's so fucking weird.

She glared at me for another few seconds and tried to continue her spiel, but the lunch bell rang. Talk about saved by the bell...

The bell rang signaling lunch was being served. I trudged to our table and bit into my apple as I propped my feet onto the table. Soon enough, the rest of the crew was sitting down as well. O'Brien sat on my right, Tree on my left and Fate across from me.

I saw Destiny's face get littered with a grin. Then I heard a voice behind me say, "You guys wanted me to meet this fag, where is he." I rose an eyebrow and realized something.

Is this the guy they think can out play me?

I slowly turned around in my chair to face this dumb ass. Wait a second, he hooked up with Krystal last night, didn't he? Oh well.

"Sorry the only fag here is you and I'm not a guy, buddy. Maybe you should check your eyes," I said.

He looked down to me, "I already got my eyes checked this year, thank you very much. The strange thing I'm sorry as well, there's a difference between being  player and being a slut, Princessa."

"There you are right. The dictionary's definition of player is; a confident, successful man or woman with many sexual partners. The dictionary's definition of slut is; a man or woman who has many casual sexual partners. I am a confident, successful man or woman and I have had many sexual partners. I have never had any casual sexual partners. Therefore I am a player. If that makes you feel any better."

He stared at me for a little while, "Who the fuck are you anyways..."

"I could ask you the same question."

He visibly tensed in what I believe is frustration. Good, I want him to be mad.

"My name...is Ace. Ace Way."

I held my hand up to my mouth and snickered. I tried to contain my laughter, but it came to fast for me to stop it. I laughed so hard actual tears came out of my eyes. I wiped them away and said, "Ace? Your name is Ace Way? What are you a fucking card trick!?" Another fit of laughter consumed me and I slowly rose from my chair. His cheeks were dusted with red and I clearly bruised is ego.

"It's a good thing I'm a player," I whispered, "because cards are one thing I never lose at. Now you, Ace, are one card I will love to play."

"What if I play you? What will happen if I play you first," he whispered back.

"If it's a bet you want, then I will happily oblige. First one to fall for the other loses. Winner gets to bang the other and bragging rights."

He smirked and stuck his hand out, "deal."

"Deal. Oh, and by the way, I'm Aldredge. My first name is Ruby."

With that, I made my way over to the jock's table and sat on a random lap. The owner welcomed me warmly, but I couldn't take my mind off the deal.

There's one problem.....

I sat down in Ruby's seat and started to chat with the others. My mind could not be taken off the bet.
