Chapter 19
Danger glanced towards the dashboard and shrugged. "It's not a big deal," he said. "We're just low on fuel."
"Where are we going to get more fuel?" Raquel asked. "It's not like there's a gas station in space."
"First of all, the engine runs on nuclear power, not gas," Danger said. "Second, I hate to admit it, but you're right. We won't be able to get more fuel until we land."
"Do we have enough power to make it to Sidhe?" I asked.
"You only have enough fuel to jump 9.49 light years. Sidhe is still thirty three light years away. " Blaze said. "In other words, no, you do not have enough power to make it to Sidhe."
"Merfludz," Danger said. "What are we going to do now?"
"We could jump to a closer system and then go to Sidhe from there," Raquel suggested.
"I think that's what we're going to have to do," Danger said. "Blaze, which systems are 9.49 light years or closer from here?"
"The star known to Earthlings as Ross 248 is only 5.6 light years from here," Blaze noted. "However, it has no known inhabited planets."
"Blaze, please limit your search to systems with inhabited planets," Danger said. "We're not going to get more fuel in an empty system."
"There are only three known systems that fit your parameters," Blaze said. "The star known to Earthlings as Wolf 1061 and to its inhabitants as Artaha is 2.4 light years away from our current location. Its only inhabited planet is Egoi."
"Egoi is kind of a lame planet," Danger said. "What else is there?"
"Alsafi, known to Earthlings as Sigma Draconis, is seven light years from our current location," Blaze said. "There are five inhabited planets in this system: Eshu, Gluskap, Anansi, Gwydion, and Kumiho."
"I'd rather not go home," Danger said.
"Come on, Danger," I said. "It would be fun to see where you live."
"I'd love to see Gwydion," Arthur added.
"I'm not going back home," Danger said, his voice shaking. "It's just not a good idea. Blaze, where else could we go?"
"The Oroshi system is nine light years away from our current location," Blaze noted. "Njord, Pazuzu, and Okaga are all inhabited planets in this system, but the Interplanetary Travel Advisory Council does not advise travel in this region due to political instability there."
"That's where Cody is from, right?" I said.
Danger nodded. "We shouldn't go to the Oroshi system," he said. "It's never a good idea to fly directly into a war zone."
"We should just go to Gwydion," Arthur said. "I would love to see your home. Besides, there has to be proof of the Illuminati there. All of the signs point to it."
"Arthur, you don't understand," Danger said. "I can't go home after everything that's happened. It will be better for all of us if we go somewhere else."
"There's nowhere else to go," Raquel pointed out. "You were the one who said that Egoi was lame, and the Oroshi system could be dangerous."
"Couldn't we go to a different planet in the Alsafi system?" I suggested. "Blaze said that there were four other planets there."
"Let me check their positions," Danger said. He took out a small tablet that was covered in flashing buttons.
"What's that?" Raquel asked.
